GOD IS GOOD.
What an inflammatory statement.
Many posts in response.
I, like you, have known bereavement, soul tearing episodes affecting those I love, reducing me to tears, and heart wrenching news that left me totally messed up and incapable of coping in any meaningful way.
How do we cope? I couldnt! Bereavement and the run up to it left me in a state of total despair.
Was my situation any worse than yours?
Probably not. But it was bad for me, and I know that there are always people in a far worse situation than mine.
I am sympathetic to those who have to go through the trials and tribulations of illness, pain and the resultant emotional turmoil that leaves us questioning everything about life, God, fairness, and either leaves us in despair or raging against whatever God is the prevailing cultural norm, of bibles, churches, cathedrals, and enrobed princes of the church, who often pontificate in forms that are alien to our lived experiences.
No, GOD IS GOOD, when you think about it, is a statement totally meaningless to any atheist, no matter how despairing that particular atheist is experiencing life and its horrid problems.
GOD IS GOOD is a statement that although meaningless to atheists, should concern believers, and needs attention.
Should atheists take offence at this?
Let me know.
