Mankind's natural curiosity leads to many questions of Why, Where, How, What, Who, etc and has driven the sciences and philosophers from time immemorial, leading to advances in our knowledge that have been both a benefit and a curse to humanity. From medicine to bombs.
But asking questions is in our DNA and our curiosity about our origins is no exception.
Sadly, this where emotions come into play, and there is no place for that in a serious investigation.
But the mere mention of a Creator of all things brings out the emotion, and muddies the waters that obscure the truth.

mallyj is absolutely correct, if you believe a creator has always existed, why can't you believe the universe has always existed? If the answer is because a creator is needed for everything than your God had to be created.

Reading, listening & thinking isn't enough basis mamya, or perhaps only on a superficial level, there is also what we might call the 'feelings in our hearts' and the great universal unconscious.

The Ancient Egyptions had THEIR Gods. The Vickings had THEIR Gods.
Zoroasrians & Mithra had THEIR God.
And the list goes on....
Then along came the New Age with 'Archytypes' (Carl Jung), aliens, past life regression and other guff.

It's not a question of who but rather what to believe. I don't believe 'in' any thing let alone any one. For me belief follows from understanding. Determining what you know follows from understanding how you know it. Understanding substantiates belief.

Or if it be a human being. Get over it? I think we ought to value and respect life, whether human or not. I don't regard animals (other than human animals) as creatures given to us by god for our amusement and nourishment.
