Having been disappointed in the past from unbiblical teaching from the Church Of England and a Gospel Hall, my sins have been weighing heavy on me lately, and I felt the need for Christian community.
So, today I attended a local Evangelical church.
I enjoyed it and was made very welcome.
This could be my spiritual home for the future.
Do any of you have any thoughts on Evangelical churches?

I don't really follow your rationale, Atheist. I had hoped the scriptures would speak for themselves. Those who say there is no God are making a patently foolish statement. Denying His existence is about as foolish as it gets. But despite our foolishness, God gives us multiple chances throughout life to turn from our ways and find full forgiveness,...

murdered John 3 -16
AB functions at such a low level that I wanna point out vulcan has misquoted - just in case people / readers think it really does read like that

god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son....
greek word - edwken - gave
never used for murder
yikes

murder ( he was tried before Pilate innit) completely misunderstands the idea of sacrifice for sins of man - christology. Big word for a big concept

vulcans chaplain would cringe
//AB functions at such a low level //

Never lower than when you're around, PP.

Sir Peter Of Pedant is unfairly criticised for some rather astute observations. Totally uncalled for.
What, that AB functions at such a low level, theland? He's talking about you ... and almost everyone else on here. Astute isn't my assessment of him.
THELAND, using your logic, the Nuremberg Court should not have prosecuted anyone connected with the Holocaust since they had been carrying out God's plans.

It's a strange God that lets millions die because of something done centuries before and allows those carrying out his wishes to be executed.
He makes it up as he goes along.

I quote scripture. Nothing more or less
Have you ever thought your interpretation of scripture might be wrong?
Question Author
Corby, I appreciate your point.
We have free will, but live out outlives according to Gods plan.
The scientific philosophers call it, '' determinism,'' and the debate rages as to whether we are really free agents, or trapped into following a preordained path.
God gives us free will but knows the end from the beginning.
Puzzling I know, but you are not alone being puzzled.
Trust God whose ways are higher than our ways.
No theland, you don’t only quote scripture. You make it up to suit yourself.
Singing.....
Fight the good fight wi-ith all yo-our might
Even if that fight is a lo-oad of shhhiyyyt.
Question Author
Sorry Naomi. You are wrong yet again.I make up nothing.
If you think I do, give me an example.
Have a look at your latest mutterings in the ‘Hell’ thread. Utter claptrap.
I have been to various flavours of churches, temples, etc etc, I find the happy clappy born again brigade the most bigotted, self righteous, judgemental of all the modern tribes. Positively cruel in their condemnation of those who don't follow their exact path. If you want to feel real love, warmth and acceptance try a pagan moot. Preferably one where the mead and ale flow as do the stories. You don't have to believe, just be willing to accept they might.
Question Author
Rowan, nice to hear from you.
No thank you though, a church not teaching about Jesus Christ is not a true church.
I have found an evangelical church which matches my expectations.
Full of love and warmth and not worldly.
Keep well.
Just hope you find peace and support from good people as you end your journey,
//I quote scripture. Nothing more or less //
Exactly!
Any scientific paper is out of the window
(unless it agrees with scripture)
Any philosophical paper is out of the window)
(Unless it agrees with scripture)
Any psychological paper is out of the window
(unless it agrees with scripture)
Any archaeological finds are out of the window
(unless it agrees with scripture)
Any historical finds are out of the window
(unless it agrees with scripture)

I see a pattern here.
