Having been disappointed in the past from unbiblical teaching from the Church Of England and a Gospel Hall, my sins have been weighing heavy on me lately, and I felt the need for Christian community.
So, today I attended a local Evangelical church.
I enjoyed it and was made very welcome.
This could be my spiritual home for the future.
Do any of you have any thoughts on Evangelical churches?

I don't really follow your rationale, Atheist. I had hoped the scriptures would speak for themselves. Those who say there is no God are making a patently foolish statement. Denying His existence is about as foolish as it gets. But despite our foolishness, God gives us multiple chances throughout life to turn from our ways and find full forgiveness,...

Another compliment, albeit a rather backhanded one, coming from you . . . I'll take it.

MIBs @ 06:46
That's quite a speech but composed liberally with half truths an error.
For sheer voluminous content it warrants a third or fourth reading, but I remain unconvinced.
I anticipated as much Theland. As I've said before, I prefer not being believed to being misunderstood. A good teacher is focused more on the success of their student than being perceived as a great teacher.
Oh well . . . MTH.

Evidence in itself is not proof, but gathering evidence supports proof eventually.
The bible is full of such evidence that collectively procures the proof I desire.
The prophecies are so great that they can't possibly be described as mere coincidences.

I have pointed out previously - and obviously you have a vested interest in ignoring me - you can make anything you want a 'prophesy' and bend it to make it say what you want it to say.

The Incas sacrificed hundreds of people every time there was an eclipse because they thought their gods were angry and blood would satisfy them.

Anything - absolutely anything, can be made to say what you or I or anyone else wants it to say.

You do it with the bible - but that only makes it what you think - it does not, and never can, make it provable fact.

Feel free to ignore me, I know it doesn't suit your stance, and that's fine - but your detractors will read what I say, and understand the truth of it.

Funny how I can get my truth across with the occasional post, and you post reams day in day out, and get absolutely nowhere.

There must be a message there - but sadly, seeing messages that don't suit you is something you refuse to entertain.

Obviously it is a waste of time you going to church.

But if you do go to a happy-clappy one, and you don't come out very depressed, then that is a plus.

But a much better option for Sunday AM, is to watch something good on telly instead.

Andy, the numerous prophecies concerning the Jews are so detailed and prolific, that it would be the conspiracy theory to trump all conspiracy theories and over a long period of time making cooperation between the conspirators well high impossible.
No, there is a simpler explanation, and that is that these are true prophecies as the bible claims them to be.
Interpretation is the pinnacle of movable feasts.
Question Author
The history of the Jews is not open to any interpretation.
"the numerous prophecies concerning the Jews are so detailed and prolific" yet no detailed prophecy about the Holocaust?

If the Holocaust was allowed to take place as a punishment by God, what had the Jews done or failed to do?

Question Author
The Jews were punished ax a nation over centuries, and although the Holocaust is not specifically mentioned, the, Valley Of Dry Bones ,'' is.
What had the Jews done or not done, specifically, to warrant the Holocaust?
Question Author
They lived under a curse lasting centuries until God in His own time deemed it was time to return the Jews, against impossible odds, to return them to the land He had promised their father Abraham.
Thus proving to the world His sovereign power.
I'm not asking about the creation of the State of Israel, am I?
Oh, "a curse".

More ghost stories for the terminally gullible.
Question Author
They disobeyed God numerous times, breaking the covenant He had with them.
What had they done to warrant the deaths of a third of their population?
Question Author
They broke the covenant they had with God, betraying their special place as His chosen people, worshipping strange gods and adapting the way of life to what they exchanged with other nations.
As that had apparently been happening for centuries, it seems a wee bit odd for God to suddenly decide to arrange for millions of his Chosen People to be murdered.

Are you saying the Jews had brought the Holocaust upon themselves?
