If YOUR holy book told you to kill people,
Would you?
Bet you wouldnt?
So why defend a book that does?
Probably because you havnt read it......

Guns don't kill people, readers of Bibles and Qurans do.

I don't think that most religious ABers are murderers in their heart. I seem to see that most of them regard religion as a good and peaceful influence. Most of them don't take the bible literally. Some do, but even then they have human values which predate religion (in fact, that is where religion got its ideas from).
naomi - As has been pointed out elsewhere, the bible is just as full of instructions to murder people who think differently - if anyone wants to read either tome that way.
I think saying 'The Koran' is too simplistic - billions read them, a tiny percentage see them as instructions to kill people.
Indoctrination is what makes people twist meanings into their own actions, I don't think anyone would argue with that.

No argument here but who's doing the indoctrinating, the Imam or the local Vicar? It comes from within the Islamic faith, and the ultimate responsibility of all atrocities carried out in the name of Islam, lies with that faith.

It's not possible to aportion responsibility to an abstract concept, which faith is, but it can be fairly and squarely laid at the doors of ectreme preachers.
