How is that any different from saying that faith is
unsupported assertions of impossible absurdities with no good evidence?

Why is ''Faith'' promoted as a good thing?
The 9/11 high-jackers had faith.
So did the followers of Jim Jones and David Koresh.

Faith is based on such strong evidence, that other people cannot see things the way the true Christian does. The apostle explains this: “Now we received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that have been kindly given us by God. . . . But a physical [carnal-minded and atheist ] man does not receive the things of the spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot get to know them, because they are examined spiritually.”—1 Cor. 2:12-14.

I keep wondering why some christians say that the Bible is the word of God. Most of the books purport to be written by humans, so where is the justification for God being the author? I suppose the OT might have long been accepted as God's word by religious Jews, but longevity of belief doesn't guarantee truth. The NT is much more recent.
Where does it say that God wrote it?

Most Christians say it was written by men 'inspired' by God - not 'written' by God. Jews likewise.

How do you know that YOU havnt been deceived by this angel of light?
Because if you were deceived you wouldnt know it.

Well said Siegfried, but I'm afraid few will understand what you are saying on this site, which is though called 'Religion & Spirituality', is in fact largely populated (probably 90%) by militant atheists, the OP being one of them.

Christianity, like all religions, has within its foundations ritual practices - something which is seemingly incomprehensible to the pagan mind, and has cerebrally unjustifiable narratives which are outside the scope of rationalism.
Please God, spare me from rationalists!
