R&S Seems to be pretty vacant nowadays.
Lets revive it a bit...

Hell!
How can it be justified?
ETERNAL torment for finite sins? How does that work?
How could I ever be happy in heaven, knowing that my parents were
burning forever in a lake of fire?
How could I worship a God that orchestrated such a thing?

Can any of the religious believers on here justify that immoral doctrine?

The term 'sin' was invented as a means to circumvent rational discourse from the process of determining what is right and wrong.
"true Bible"

:-)
goodlife, how can the bible be true when it is full of contradictions?
I'm sure I read in the bible that God is not partial, and where it says he shows no favouritism...
Is this a JWs page? Asking for a friend , her parents are JWs and they disowned her because she married ‘out’ that’s Hell, they weren’t at her wedding , no Dad to walk her proudly down the aisle, that’s Hell, 2 years later they had a beautiful little girl that her parents refuse to see, that’s Hell!
Cruel, isn't it Bobbi?...
That's not hell, it's a narrow escape.
It really is Patsy, what kind of religion allows family’s to split, that don’t celebrate a birthday or Christmas, I have watched my friend break down in tears over the years , many times ,
It’s Hell for my friend Douglas
That's awful Bobbi. So much for Devout Christianity.

Jesus would never have approved such behaviour I'm sure.
jesus Nailit - you sound like one of those woke Anglicans who believe in God intermittently

Hell as non-heaven ( clearly not everyone gets there) (*) is one view

(*) I cant remember if Judas gets to heaven, on the grounds it was pre-determined ( calvinist) that he wd betray Jesus.

also where does Jesus go Good Fri - Easter Sun ?
he cant go to Heaven temporarily ( for reasons I have forgotten)

I mean all this is a bit - - - - dogmatic
Actually, Jesus predicted it.

//Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. [35] For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. // Matt.34/35
^That to Geoffrey.
Sorry, that's Matt.10.34:35
Thanks for the heads-up Naomi. I stand corrected - my knowledge of the Bible is limited to what they tried to pump into me at school :-(

Your quote reinforces my atheism.
Mine too, Geoffrey.
I have often wondered when reading that passage in Matthew, would the expression Mother in Law have been used? According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, that expression was first used in the 14th century. It makes me wonder just when the Bible was actually written.
The New Testament (which is what we're talking about) is a mish-mash of various authors, Vulcan, most of them (contrary to the claims of the faithful) unknown - and it's been changed numerous times over the years so it's quite possible that the term 'mother in law' was unknown in those times.
The literal term 'mother-in-law' wouldn't have been used, since it is English. Surely the concept of "wife's mother", or "husband's mother" would have been around?
