R&S Seems to be pretty vacant nowadays.
Lets revive it a bit...

Hell!
How can it be justified?
ETERNAL torment for finite sins? How does that work?
How could I ever be happy in heaven, knowing that my parents were
burning forever in a lake of fire?
How could I worship a God that orchestrated such a thing?

Can any of the religious believers on here justify that immoral doctrine?

I doubt if anyone here can justify or explain that, nailedit. You will probably get a long-winded screed of biblical quotes (possibly AI stuff). But not an intelligent and interesting discussion. It would be nice if you did. Best wishes.

Its both unjustified and unexplainable.
No doubt the religious believers will give it a shot.
(Or pretend not to have seen it)
Hell is what you make it. Or not if you don't want it. How is everyone managing the present ?
Hell is living in a world controlled by believers in a divine overseer.
We've done this.
Hell no more needs justification than Neasden does. It's just there (or not, as you prefer, but Neasden is difinitely there.)
the nearer I get to Heaven or Hell the less it seems to pre-occupy me.

Jesus soul, I thought had to go somewhere between crucifixion and resurrection, and so they thought - not heaven so .... hell

but like the Trinity ( doesnt occur as a word in the New T) and is a post first century thing
dont they have professionals to argue this sort of thing?

and then you dial 1-800-ASKPOPEY

and say' Holy Farder, what do you believe this week'
and it doesnt change for 1800 y

simples
than Neasden does
dont forget Balham - gate way to the south
a fairyland of glittering lights - Hell might be like that too, to lure the unwary
This is a diagrammatic version of what is normally a pictorial image.
It is all on there, & what is more, one can go through the whole cycle psychologically within the space of a single day - maybe even within one hour!

Hell is trying to get this tormenting, man-made rubbish out of one's head..
Hell is there to 'persuade' others to do your bidding, simply a control mechanism.

Do as I say or else.....

And downstairs I go, at least I will be warm :-)
I dont think any of us are able to fully comprehend just how serious our sin is. God how provided a way out of going to Hell through his Son, Jesus. Please accept it.

Jean-Paul Sartre said "Hell is other people ..." - I wonder if he realised that after a short spell on this section!
Fiveleaves, I don’t think people like you are capable of comprehending the damage you inflict. The concept of sin and retribution for it is the greatest evil man ever imposed upon his fellow man.
A great man once wrote:

If Jesus saves, well he better save himself
From the gory glory seekers who use his name in death
Oh Jesus save me.

Don't have nightmares, Leafster.
Naomi, I never started this thread. If there is no sin, why do we have laws against stealing, against murder, against sleeping with children. For the best part of 1,400 years our culture and laws have been rooted in the teachings of the Bible. If you no longer want that, then what do you suggest.
The separation of good from evil is the foundation of any healthy society. If Good exists, then it follows that Evil also exists.
God is perfectly loving, but He is also perfectly just and He will be the ultimate judge.
Those rules were in place long before the religions of the book, but the concept of hell is a construct to frighten those who probably would never do anything bad enough to go there anyway. The only hell I believe in is the torment of a broken mind, the unrelenting chaos of fear and self loathing.
Makes the rules, then acts as both judge AND jury eh ? Well that sounds really just. I don't know why courts here don't follow that good example.

Or: maybe you've misunderstood ?

No loving entity is going to send loved ones to torment. A loving deity wouldn't allow such a place to exist.

You make your own hell if you think you deserve it. That's why you've ended up here.
Fiveleaves, ‘sin’ doesn’t equate to ‘crime’. In my opinion the word ‘sin’ should be stricken from our vocabulary. It’s an evil concept.
