Allegedly it's the shroud Jesus was swathed in when he was buried. When it was found the image of Christ is supposedly imprinted on the cloth.

I think it's a load of rubbish to be honest.

Considering that Jesus was God's son, and the Bible states that Jesus was 'taken' back to heaven by his Father, almighty God, ...God made very sure that no fleshly body was left that people could turn into an ICON and worship IT. We witness people doing this on a regular basis, especially with political leaders [ example; Mao Tse-Tung and Lenin] So why should God allow a piece of cloth to fill the same role. He would not. So the shroud is a fake.
