The Strange New Testament
4 Answers
Given some folks belief that the New Testament is fictitious, there remain some strange things about it, if it was indeed only a man made tome.
For example, it is agreed that Paul letters were the earliest documents along with Marks gospel. But these were written earlier than 60 CE, when witnesses to the events of Jesus were still alive. The documents survived, because there would have been no outcry of them being false.
There was not enough time for myths about Jesus to grow and take root. Much later, about 130 CE, such myths were indeed abounding, such as the gospel of Thomas, and several others that were too fantastic to make it into the canon of scripture.
So, please try your best to explain this, and others as they arise.
Better still, play devils advocate, and use your collective skills and wisdom to defend the gospels, and see what turns up.
After all, a good defence barrister doesn't have to believe his client to get him off the hook.
