Can anyone tell me how best to deal with some very odd things that have been happening in my house........some of it the usual sort of stuff like foot steps on our third floor...doors shutting (when noone near them) taps turning themselves on, temperature changes (sometimes extreme hot to cold and vice versa)..theres loads more....but has anyone else had stuff like this happen, and wot did u do about it...or anything...it really spooks me, but my wife is totally cool with it all and refuses to have the house blessed.!!

like? at the end of every sentance, like?
Praline, I agree, and I too would like to know the answers. I suppose for those who have never experienced these things it is difficult to believe they happen, but they do.
Can science prove it, or is it merely a matter of personal belief and experience?
I don't know but surely there must be people of a scientific background that have had experiences like those mentioned but may not admit it to anyone for fear of ridicule.
"So....Just why did you run out of your house screaming Ghost?"
"Err.....it was the plumbing playing up"
A scientist afraid to declare a scientific breakthrough to the world? Wouldnt be much of a scientist then would they!
Octavius, as far as I know science has no proof - no more than it has proof of the existence of any god. Some people believe despite having no experience of such things - others believe because they have witnessed it and cannot deny it happens. Then you have those who have never experienced it and, rather than keep an open mind and admit they don't know, simply refuse to believe, thereby dismissing those who do have experiences to recount, either as deluded, or as out and out liars.

You've completely missed the point Luna made. His hypothetical scientist had seen a ghost but wouldn't admit it because science demands hard evidence of a scientific breakthrough - and of course he had no evidence except that of his own eyes. Hence he blamed the plumbing.
If the stunning success that science has already achieved in explaining the supernatural in naturalistic terms has failed to capture your imagination and sense of wonder and you choose instead to lose your self in the mysteries of the unexplained is it any wonder that the plumbing that magically provides you with hot and cold water at the twist of your wrist is so easily attributed to the antics of ghosts when it goes thump in the night?

Popular preconceived notion regarding scientific inquiry

Boo!
Aarrgh!! Thank you for the link mib. Interesting. I don't choose to lose myself in the mysteries of the unexplained and would much prefer science to provide the answers. However, I doubt that even science could find the plumbing guilty of setting clocks and watches back an hour.
Naomi, Wasn't me . . . I don't think?

But I would love to see a video!
mib, oo-er .... spooky!

I'd love to see a video too.
