So, who thinks that as an atheist, I should refuse to have an ark toy in the house?

I'm not sure how old your wee girl is, but I'm guessing she's under 8.
At that age, Bible stories such as 'The Ark, baby Jesus' etc are just that, stories, so she would not understand why you would refuse to have a toy Ark in the house due to your Atheist views and see you as overbearing and unreasonable.

Would you refuse to have her in the house if, she became an adult and able to make an informed decision and said, "Dad, I want to become a member of the local Church and live by Christian values"?

Good morning Waldo, no, I don't think you should refuse to have the little Noah's Ark in the house. It's a lovely toy for a child, and it's a nice little fairy story too. Nothng wrong with that.

Oh, I agree with you. It would be churlish in the extreme to refuse to have the toy in the house. Particuarly since it's unlikely that we'll make much reference to the religious connotations.

When my daughter becomes an adult, she's free to decide whatever she pleases about religion. I've always said that.
Our duty is to bring her up to think about the world in a logical and rational way with an appropriate level of skepticism. If we do that, there's nothing to worry about what relgious views she'll have.

But you haven't spotted the error.

Yes, you'd have thought that someone would have noticed the gay lions, wouldn't you, particularly given the sensitivity of the issue for so many religious people!

If you do a google image search, this is actually an endemic problem in Noah's Ark toys.

Well I know that Noah built his ark with an engine - and your toy doesn't appear to have one.

As a Christian, I wouldn't object to my child dressing up as a witch and having a Haloween party or wearing devil horns for fun, such consternation towards an object of personal b�te-noir seems in most instances, just a wee bit pathetic.

There is an engine - it's an outboard and Shem has taken it to the chandlers for reconditioning.

I imagine, buying and setting up another machine to produce a non-maned lion would have doubled the cost of the toy.

The whole point of the animals on the ark is that they were there to repopulate their relative species. Sorry if your sense of humour bypass renders you incapable of raising even a slight smile at this.

Lego men, to the best of my knowledge, are not based on any well known religious story.

Well spotted Waldo, I have been residing like Alan Partridge at the mo, tonight I shall be home with the wife so it should be a better night. Although she has been struck down by the noro-virus, so a few more nights in the hotel might be prefereable.
