got me curious.
Do people believe in programs like Britains most haunted, and Ghost hunters? I thought people watch this for a laugh but aparently not. Surely people can't believe in ghost these days.

I believe that they are someting we cannot see. They are not people but there are plenty of other explanations for them.
As for Most Haunted and so on I wouldn't give them house room.

Even Most Haunted don't pretend it's actually real these days, having been caught out too many times. Much like a psychic phoneline, it's "for entertainment purposes only".

I believe in ghosts. I know what they are, from whence they arise and the nature of the danger they pose to humanity.
Ghosts are apparitions of a mind that has lost or more likely never acquired the ability to differentiate between the reality of what is and the wanderings of an imagination that refuses to accept that reality imposes limitations on what is possible.
Such a mind has sacrificed its ability to rationally evaluate and integrate its perceptions as well as its ability to determine what can be changed and how best to go about making the changes which would make reality a more pleasant and worthwhile place to live in.
Exempting oneself from the need to correlate ones beliefs to reality one is resigned to venturing down a path where nothing is certain except uncertainty and nothing seems more real than the nightmarish scenario of formless floating abstractions. A mind thus debilitated will not survive such abuses for long soon rendering the one responsible for its care and proper use to the state of a zombie, with no regard for its own welfare, no respect for reality or sense of fairness in its dealings with others. This is the nature of the real terror that beliefs in disembodied spirits unleash upon an unsuspecting and disbelieving populace.
Are ghosts real? You better believe it!

mibs, your post implies that you are in possession of certain knowledge to which no one else is privy, and that's not only a very arrogant claim, it's an impossible one. Reality does indeed impose limitations upon what is possible, but since human beings are not in possession of the total sum of the knowledge of the universe, and since your experience in this instance is non-existent, all you can truthfully say is that you haven't witnessed that which others, because of their experience, know to be reality.
In short, people who claim to have seen ghosts are not necessarily irrational, as you suggest, but your assessment of them as such displays your own failing in your inability to investigate anything that you, yourself, have not witnessed - and that is a limited mind indeed.

I do believe in ghosts, but I do not believe in programmes like Most haunted!

Ok thanks for your replies most interesting. It's obvious many haven't followed up the link which is what I was talking about so here it is. People actually believe this. The way they are talking is not natural (scripted) and for gods sake just look at the ghost??? hahaha so obviously fake but people believe..
I believe in spirits but not ghosts that we all know or commonly perceive ghosts to be in the physical visual sense. Whilst I believe these spirits exist around us, I dont hold that they walk the earth in some translucent form, getting up to all kinds of skulduggery and scaring people, or even turning up unannounced with no malice whatsoever. They are just around us, unseen, unheard and unobtrusive, just watching over us and guiding us on our paths.
Alas, I cannot open the link at work. For infrared thermography to work there has to be variations in temperature, the amount of radiation emitted by an object increases with temperature so hot things are visible against the blackness of cooler things. They can also only measure surface areas.
So, I dont really see how a ghost would have any surface area as such to be recorded thermographically, and if it did then surely it isnt a ghost? nor that a ghost would have the capacity to be warm or cold itself, since most ghost believers more often relay a cold atmospheric feeling. Again this can be a perfectly natural cold spot in the environ. If you are pertaining to black body radiation or infrared then any number of tricks can be employed to create a mysterious effect that would be easily dismissed with normal vision returned. Like this for example:

I caveat this by not having seen the vid, but if the ghost is of a dark shape then equally this could be any tangible object at all.
