Why is there a cult to user name 'Ethel'?

It appears to me after a few days on Answerbank that there is an Answerbank community which glorifies someone called 'Ethel' who is a poster on these forums.

Why is this the case?

It is highly annoying that whilst some people spend time on the site to offer genuine answers for people, others go on it to follow a users' lead in witch-hunts against other users (such as the phishing scam posting) or issues (such as the staged debate of Bottled Water which the user admitted was to have a joke with Ethel)!

I wish users would actually respect posters in answering questions genuinely or posting a REAL question, not a joke posting for an in-joke, as this makes Answerbank very unappealing.

Why are you insisting on being vindictive MGraham?

A few of us have offered you the olive branch and suggested that you check out the site first before forming opinions, yet you seem hell bent on tearing into it?

If your opinion of us is so low, may I suggest you frequent other sites? Surely it's no fun for you here if you don't like the site and it's users.
I havnt said that you have. I have said that previous green names containing Timothy and Graham have had such discussions.
Of course, if they hadnt been removed and banned Id provide the links.
Most people on here do respect everybody else that posts and answers questions, Ethel is often on here and is always offering good advice and links, so do quite a few others, Ethel is never abusive or rude, hope you decide to stay and enjoy the site for what it is, if you want to avoid all the crap side just stay out of "Chatterbank"

I fully agree Boo. It just aggrieves me to see some people who may be asking questions as they have no other medium knocked for doing so.

In my career i dealt with many young people who were afraid to ask questions because they were reprimanded by others for doing so, or appearing uneducated.

So for me to see that, or witness some sort of percieved mass ridicule for people who favour bottled water or ask a question which to them may not be obvious, is very hard to accept.

As you can see by the accusations of redcrx even I have been subjected to this process of ridicule just because I am not in some 'in-crowd'.

However, I accept the olive branch. Thank you

15:28 You may, but I have high expectations.

Plenty of chocolates and sweeties, please.

You've certainly made me laugh, you suck - up.

:)

Oi, pack it in slark, you're in serious danger of ruining my ambition of being AB's peacemaker here!
Thanks boo you have proved my rule 1 to be correct
Question Author
Dont worry....

now can anyone tell me where I can buy a nice bottle of water? :-)

haha, only a joke!

I know im going to regret getting into this....

Slark, how have i proved your theory correct? Have I abused you or MGraham over this topic?

And MGraham, shame on you ;-) Now leggit before someone think's your question is serious- heh.
boo read my post in this thread , unofficial Site Rules
Question Author
My question was no serious.

In fact, the only question I was wanting to ask was:

"Should I buy an Audi A4 or a BMW M3?"

As i could not choose!

Ps- For the record, I live in Stirling and do not require my water bottled!
Buy an Audi MGraham! There is something about most BMW drivers that really gets my back up.
you may need a snowplow soon
And i read them slark, but your unofficial rules state that if you attack ethel, you get slagged off.

You attacked Ethel, but I did abuse you? No.- so how does that prove your theory correct?
So you live in Stirling - in the Raploch perhaps (you related to big Mags maybe)? Nuff said
I have never attacked ethel and i would not want to attack you, anyone who speaks up for animals is ok in my books

14:19 Of course it's ok to not like cats. What I personally dislike is the way some people think it's funny to potentially harm them.

I dislike other people's children, but i wouldn't dream of hurting one, nor would I find ways of hurting them funny no matter how much of a joke it was.

We all have boundaries where jokes are concerned- one of mine is animal cruelty, I fail to see any humour in it.
Question Author
Yes I do, I moved here from London in 1997. So i know one or two things about how different water tastes!

I am however looking to move, most probably to Peebles near Edinburgh near my daughter.

Ditto slark, have a good day :-)
