Just another question I have!

Slightly confused as Jesus was born a man and speaks to God, so they cant be the same?

If we pray to Our Father, Son and Holy Spirit are we praying to 3 different people (u know what I mean?)

Jesus is God as is the Holy Spirit. 3 in 1 + 3 as 1. God the father, God the son-Jesus + God the Holy Spirit are just 3 seperate parts of the One God that can work independently as well as together. All 3 parts of God are equal to one another. God the father let Jesus his son( also part of him- not a seperate entity as in a father and son on earth) come down to earth to save mankind. Jesus did die yet he rose again to be with the father. Jesus came into human form yet he was never a human being like any of the prophets- Jesus was God in man form. A banana has 3 segments yet it is one banana just as God is 3 parts of the same God. H2O- water can be sold, water + gas in form yet it is still the same essence. Not saying God is a banana or water as he is the creator of all the earth + heavens yet just trying to explain God 3 in 1 to you all in simple terms. God is highly complex that is how he can be 3 different beings yet 1 being all at the same time. Faith means that you do not have to have everything making perfect sense in order to believe it as being true, too. Keyplus90- there is only one God- the Christian God who is the real God + only HE can save you. It is blasphemy to call Jesus a prophet as He was one with God + part of the same God. May God reveal Himself to you all. Ciao, Bea
H2O can be solid, water and gas(steam)- meant to have said.
Also, Jesus's human body did die yet his spirit never died + he rose body and spirit to Heaven to be back with God the Father. God has always existed as 3 in 1 and always will- it is a mystery that we can never understand yet must trust in otherwise ourselves will not live after death. Our spirits will rise to Heaven if we trust + believe in God the Trinity 3 as1. It more than upsets me when anyone calls Jesus a prophet- more blasphemous than saying God does not exist. Jesus is God + perfectly God. Any other God is just a wolf in sheeps clothing. Care not if anyone calls me arrogant for saying this as the truth needs to be spoken.

JNO, where?
Beatrice35, this from Sam Harris. Do you disagree with him?

CONSIDER: every devout Muslim has the same reasons for being a Muslim that you have for being a Christian. And yet you do not find their reasons compelling. The Koran repeatedly declares that it is the perfect word of the creator of the universe. Muslims believe this as fully as you believe the Bible's account of itself. There is a vast literature describing the life of Muhammad that, from the point of view of Islam, proves that he was the most recent Prophet of God. Muhammad also assured his followers that Jesus was not divine (Koran 5:71-75; 19:30-38) and that anyone who believes otherwise will spend eternity in hell. Muslims are certain that Muhammad's opinion on this subject, as on all others, is infallible.
Why don't you lose any sleep over whether to convert to Islam? Can you prove that Allah is not the one, true God? Can you prove that the archangel Gabriel did not visit Muhammad in his cave? Of course not. But you need not prove any of these things to reject the beliefs of Muslims as absurd. The burden is upon them to prove that their beliefs about God and Muhammad are valid. They have not done this. They cannot do this. Muslims are simply not making claims about reality that can be corroborated. This is perfectly apparent to anyone who has not anesthetized himself with the dogma of Islam.
The truth is, you know exactly what it is like to be an atheist with respect to the beliefs of Muslims. Isn't it obvious that Muslims are fooling themselves? Isn't it obvious that anyone who thinks that the Koran is the perfect word of the creator of the universe has not read the book critically? Isn't it obvious that the doctrine of Islam represents a near-perfect barrier to honest inquiry? Yes, these things are obvious. Understand that the way you view Islam is precisely the way devout Muslims view Christianity. And it is the way I view all religions.
My dear, I wasnt being sarcastic since it was you who bought your husband into this on your thread where you couldnt decide on your path to Christianity (Catholic or CofE).

My personal view that this is not achieved or decided through websites such as AB or the Catholic website you refer to on this thread. You obviously have family here who are CofE, perhaps you could chat things over with them, and since your husband is unavailable maybe you could also go and talk to a church minister. Speaking to the people who are involved in the churches you think you want to join may change everything. You might even avoid Christianity altogether and become a Buddhist.

Nonetheless, keep asking questions and I shall share my opinions. You are not required to like them. I will however refrain from mentioning your husband ever again as it appears we know as much about him as you do.
Mohammed hallucinated- besides,he is a false prophet anyhow.
Care not what anyone else thinks, care only for the truth + Jesus + the Triune Christian God is the whole truth.
Allah is a false God- do not need to prove anything. Speak for truth only- Jesus- son of God, God the father and God the Spirit. Jesus is the truth, the way and the life - No one can come to God except through Him. Jesus is the gateway to God.There is only one truth- not many. Muslims view Christianity as a lie as they live in a lie + the truth is a threat to them. The truth of Christianity is a threat to many in a secular society too. Anyway, have not time to debate this as have much to do today + sure many others would like to carry on this debate anyhow. Jesus was the only one leader + author of a religion without a tombstone as he rose again + the only one without sin. As Jesus was without sin he can save us from our sins/ all our actions + words that pain others + self , plus also, Jesus is the only one who can let us have a relationship with God + salvation( heaven). Christianity is not without faults of course as it is a religion set up by mankind who are all with faults/sins- Chistianity is to follow Jesus's teaching + example ,yet ,Jesus the author of Christianity is without faults/sin as Jesus is perfection that is what makes it the truth.

Yes but if you look close enough there are a few minuses - and a divide / as well. One thing I can't see is a cross x for multiplying, which is unusual for a christian.
Naomi....Jesus Christ may have been born a jew but being devout is speculation. His teachings of loving/forgiveness of all men was the phenoman his followers aspired to. Those who did follow him were subsequently known as christians. My interpretation!
Why do people like Beatrice35 prefer to give us sermons rather than answer the straight facts that naomi supplies?

Jesus, a devout Jew, could not possible have claimed to be the son of the Jewish God without being stoned to death for blasphemy. The claim was made by Paul when he introduced the idea of Jesus to the world in his epistles which started about AD55. Before that there was no mention of Jesus by anyone.

That inexplicable thing, the Trinity, was an invention of the Church. As such, all that is needed is for it to be accepted. Questioning it - such as asking why God sent himself to earth to be killed to please himself - is just not done, old boy. Just believe and shut up.
Beatrice35, just think, had it not been for an accident of birth, you may well have landed up in Iran, or Pakistan, or Morocco - and if you had the chances are you'd have believed exactly as Keyplus does. And had he been born in the UK, or another western country, rather than in Pakistan, chances are he'd had believed precisely as you do. What a mad world religion creates.

Terambulan, your interpretation? Clearly. You aren't following Jesus, you're following St Paul, but never mind that. Don't let the facts cloud your judgement.
Quite simply, to be Jew, Christian or Muslim, your faith has to be 'Blind Faith',

To be a devout believer in each of those, means that you must believe that your faith is the only correct one, yet none of them can prove it.

I think naomi has explained it best
Question Author
I have spent a couple of years in Africa living with my husband (so how can you say I dont know my husband !!?)

Believe me, I know my husband VERY well, however when it comes to religion I have always steered clear as I have always been a non believer.

I respect my husband very much and his faith has never been an issue between us.

However, it has only been the last few weeks that I have started to question my own "non- beliefs" which is why I am asking questions on here.

I will speak to my husband about this when I visit him in 3 weeks time, but for now , like I said I would like to know other peoples opinions.

Thousands of people have long distance relationships and it can be very difficult, but I KNOW we wont be living apart forever and thays what keeps me going.

Thanks Lonnie, but perhaps not as succinctly as you.
"By their fruits shall ye know them .......!

9/11 - 7/7 - Madrid train bomb - etc etc ad infinitum.

Pray .... what are the fruits of Christianity?
Love of neighbour, love of enemies, humility, service, forgiveness ...............
You people really don't get it, do you? You're right - he's right - when in fact you can't possibly all be right - and the probability is you're all completely wrong - but never mind - just keep the conflict going. Love and peace as far as religion goes is very selective indeed! As I said, what a mad world you create between you - and what a pity for the rest of us that you just can't see it. Sheesh!
They all asked, "Are you then the Son of God?" He (Jesus) replied, "You are right in saying I am." (Luke 22:70)

(Jesus said) "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16)

And so on

(sorry about the delay, naomi, we've got builders in)
jno, is there really any point in quoting people who weren't there, and when we don't know who they are or how they came upon such information so many years after the event?
JNO, I don't know which version of the bible you use, but I use the King James, and according to that Luke 22:70 doesn't say 'They all asked "Are you then the Son of God?" He (Jesus) replied, "You are right in saying I am.", it says 'Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.'

I would say that the two supposed statements are totally contradictory. In your version he admits that he's the Son of God, in mine he's pretty much saying 'I'm not saying that - you are'.

According to the Bible, only once did Jesus claim to be the Son of God, and that is in another account of his trial. All the other gospels say something similar to that above. If we look at the evidence, such as it is, it appears none of his followers were present at the trial, and there are no official records, so I have to ask who witnessed that one confession and who reported it?

We also have to bear in mind that when one of his disciples asked him who he was, he gave no answer. He simply said 'who do you say that I am? Don't you find it odd that he withheld that vital information from his disciples? Additionally, there were times when his family thought he'd flipped! Now if they knew that he was indeed the Son of God - and if anyone knew, it would have been them - why would they question his sanity? And what does that say about Mary, his mother, and her claim of a liaison with the Holy Ghost? Too many questions, JNO, and no rational answers. The authors tripped themselves up continually.

We've got builders in too - what a pain!
