Changing your religion
34 Answers
Im not gonna lie this is partly aimed at Keyplus-Just wanted to get that outta the way now so no one thinks I have any hidden agenda.
Ok Keyplus(and others who believe in a certain part of religion) you say that your book has 'evidence' as to why its right and others are wrong. Now you all have different books with different 'evidence'....what if there was a new religious book discovered that had more evidence in it that any of the existing ones? would you change what you believed to match the evidence supported in this new book?
If not why not?

I had thought that the reason for this was that people couldn't be bothered to think about it and just bowed to peer pressure and brain washing, but I am thinking that perhaps there is more to it than that.
After 1500-2000 years being in the same religious environment perhaps there is evolutionary pressure too, after all 75 generations is probably enough to have some effect. Stoning, burning and crucifying those with a more free thinking nature must have had some effect on the gene pool.

Shermi, //what if there was a new religious book discovered that had more evidence in it that any of the existing ones? would you change what you believed to match the evidence supported in this new book?//
Keyplus would never bother to read it so he wouldn't know. I know he's never read the bible (although of course that's much older than the Koran) and you can bet your boots he's never read the Book of Mormon for example, so he can never claim to have made an informed choice. Your question actually begs a further question. Why does a grown man need a book written by other men to tell him how to live?
Keyplus, //Whereas Quran has no contradiction//
I'm not getting into this again, but you know that is demonstrably false so stop kidding yourself and stop taking the people here for fools.

Keyplus, regardless of the overwhelming evidence that has been presented to you here, you have consistently rejected everything that any of us have ever said. You're in denial - and that is where you'll stay because, as a result of your indoctrination, you're afraid to be your own person - and you will always be afraid.

I would change the above a bit like this,

Keyplus, you're wrong. Mani chose to leave because he said something that he later retracted and was man enough to apologise for.
In other words he admitted that he was wrong. It really does take courage and I hope few more people should do the same. After all he was a man so he had courage and I agree with you.

The Jews of Jesus' day THOUGHT they had it right, obeying the 600 laws of the old testament...but they had forgotten COMPASSION...Then Jehovah SENT Jesus to tell them the 'good news'. That he, Jehovah, was MODIFYING the system...
Many Jews listened to what Jesus taught amd changed their ways...they became followers of the Christ...Christians,...they were no longer Jews.
They in fact were obeying Jehovah God...
(Mark 9:7) And a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud: “This is my Son, the beloved; listen to him.”
