My OH just got a message on his laptop saying he had a serious problem with Windows 10.He should not close the computer as that would lead to loss of data. There is a phone number 01316080570 to dial. he tried to close the window and it wont go away.He rang the number and a woman said to press the Microsoft symbol at the bottom of his keyboard and then press r.Before he went any further I made him ask who she was and she said a Microsoft consultant based in New York,California. He said he will ring her back tomorrow. Is it a problem or a scam?

New York in California? When did it move?
Unplug the laptop and take out the battery so it totally closes down. This is a scam! Then plug back in and put the battery back and restart.
