I've had an email from the above company asking me to update my details. I've recently had a new bank debit card and I activated it yesterday. It said in the email that I've got a new card, how do pay pal know this? Is it a coincidence or a scam?

Melv...when you set up a PayPal account, you input your card details. So PayPal will know when this card expires and your new one starts.

So I am guessing that PayPal are asking you to input the new card details, including the expire date.

I don't think there is any need for alarm, but if you are concerned, go into your PayPal account and make the changes there.
They would know that your old card was out of date from the records held Melv. Do not log on from the email link. Open a tab with a search or use your bookmarked link if you have one.
Having said that Melv(and Mikey too) you are wise to have your suspicion antenna switched on.
Do you really mean an email or a paypal message? Paypal put such requests as messages on your paypal home page. An email is probably a scam. If it is an email here is how to check if it is genuine

Thanks for your replies. I think I'll wait until I buy something and do it then.
Log in to your paypal account but NOT from the email/message... you will then be able to update your card details.
