I'm watching the Stoke game and I was wandering why there were green markings on the pitch.

It looks to me as if Stoke have had to make the pitch bigger. Probably to comply with EUFA rules. Personally I have never understood why football and rugby pitches can vary in size so much. Surely FIFA(and the rugby governing body) should decide on their respective pitch size and that would be the end of the matter.

Thanks for the input Howard I first noticed it a few games ago and I've been meaning to ask my mate whose a Stoke fan but I keep forgetting.
