Given tonight's result causing Barca's season to vaporise over a period of 4 days will Pep spend cash in the summer?
Who should he buy, if anyone?
My view is he needs to seriously look to replace Puyol and, due to his illness, Abidal. If Villa recovers to his best he should probably remain.

You are probably right. Having a plan B would be good, even if you never use it.
Too distressed to talk - wake me at Christmas when I've recovered from the debacle of the past week or so..............
Barca don't have the cash to splash in the summer (though rumour has it that Neymar will be at the Camp Nou when his contract is up in Brazil or sooner if Barca need him - well that's what I hear anyway)

I agree that training your own is a better way to go sometimes you just have to buy. I suppose it depends who is available to step up from the B team.
They appear to need quicker players in defence. The goals they concede are so often from quick moves in counter-attack or by the opposition getting behind the wide men in their back line.
As to plan B, well Plan A, keeping the ball on the ground and relying on possession and quick,, accurate passing, serves them so well and they haven't got the players who threaten on high crosses. as it is. Chelsea coped with the limited amount of stuff in the air, mostly corners, without having their two proper centre backs on the field.
I believe there has been the inevitable over reaction here. Lets take the three games in order, a flukey defeat to Chelski at Stamford Bridge which, on many other nights, would have finsihed as an easy win for Barca. Alright, it didn't, but Chelsea were fortuitous. The defeat to Real Madrid is nothing to panic about as Real are the best team around at present, but only just, and that is largely down to the best manager in the world. As for last night, well, yes, there are defensive problems but Barca are only one or two players away from being the best in the world.

Long may they continue to finish second though.
