ael; On the Chris Evans show, he said he was listening to the commentary on Five Live and the commentator said, "Neymar is rolling around as if he has been bitten by a crocodile." Which, i think, sums it up perfectly. They should be made to stay on the sidelines for one minute per roll!
Being a gambling man, Talbot, i'll bet you get your bets on before kick off in future:-/
If you recall, i put a bet on England 5-0 v Panama the other day, with a boosted price. 5-0 up at half time with obviously more goals to come, i went to cash out, but, because of the boosted price, no cash out was available. Lesson learned. I don't usually make use of the cash out but with so many late, late goals in this WC, it makes sense to at least consider it.
Morning punters. I am on pins already..:)) Will need to get out and have a walk and see if I can put it to the back of my mind for an hour or so. Will be having a "look" later when we know the team. Will keep pegging away at the Scorecast bet as the return can be good and I still get a chance for an in play cover if I miss the first scorer.
Both Sweden and Switzerland are your archetypal European clubs - hard working, hard to beat and with one or two game-changers in their ranks. 3 of their last 4 meetings have been draws, 2 of which were score draws, and Switzerland have already drawn 2 of their 3 WC 2018 games, 2-2 and 1-1. Sweden are quite adept at keeping clean sheets and i was tempted by the 2/1 for the draw, but because i'm a greedy so and so;
Another clean sheet for the Swedes. Wonder which tabloid will lead with, "Swiss rolled" as their header? And so, on to tonight's match.
Columbia qualified in 4th spot, some 17 points behind winners Brazil, and will have come here in pretty much the same situation as England - in hope rather than expectation. When they're good, the South Americans can be very good, but when they're not, they can be quite a mediocre side - remarks which also apply to us and we will have to be at our game if we are to meet Sweden in the next round. I am hoping we score in the first half hour and that, while the Columbians are chasing an equaliser in the 2nd half, we can wrap it up with another.
England 2-0 @ 8/1 boosted to just over 17/2 = £48.41
Bets are on. After watching the earlier game, I see nothing to fear is we can perform in this one.
Done England to win 2-1 @10/1. £5.00 stake which has given me £5s worth of free bets in play. Also done £1 on Kane first goal 2-1 @30/1 & 3-1 @60/1. Sterling first goal 2-1 @50/1 &3-1 @85/1. Don't care if one of my bets don't come up as long as we go through. I had a punt on Kane to be top tournament scorer @16/1 before the off. He is now showing @4/5 and 365 are offering me £9 cash out.
That was.....................................different. We actually won a penalty shoot-out at a World Cup :-) Though i do hope that, coming so close to elimination brings everyone back down to Earth - players, fans and the media. Of course, the bookies know that hardly anyone from these shores will be backing Sweden, who they mark up @ 4/1. But our record against the Swedes doesn't make particularly good reading - most of our games against them since the late 90s have been drawn. I'll be having a long, long think about that match when the time comes.
Only just recovered from that Ken. I was almost cabbaged last night after the tension. "She who must be obeyed" was not overly impressed with my emotional outbursts, and I am still getting flashbacks myself. Made amends today by re-sealing around the bath/shower and basin in the bathroom after promising weeks ago. Brownie points are banked, and I must admit I did a cracking job of it. Spend the next two days limbering up for kick off on Saturday and will post any futile predictions on this thread, as it appears not to be infested with doom mongers and gainsayers. My punt on Kane as top scorer and England to win look better now when I see the odds being offered. 365 are dangling even more cash out figures
Okay, just the four games today and tomorrow and i do not expect to see a glut of goals. Especially when you consider that those taking part have kept no fewer than 17 clean sheets in this tournament - was going to do 0-0 for the first game but i've never done a 0-0 in my life. Also, in order to attempt to win a big pot, i'm going for the most difficult of all bets, the correct score;
Uruguay v France 1-1 @ 11/2 ..................Win single
Brazil v Belgium 1-1 @ 11/2 ..................Win single
Sweden v England 1-1 @ 6/1 .................Win single
Croatia v Russia 1-0 @ 5/1......................Win single
A 60p Lucky 15, £1 acca = £10 stake for a possible return of ££,664
Have been down to the shoreline for a couple of hours Ken and missed you post @ 14.33. I have not had a go today, but will do so tomorrow. Probably post my horses in the usual place but come back here for the football flutter.
Ken (or anyone else!) - are the 4 bets above individual *and* linked? If one fails, are the others still "live" on their own but the Accumulator becomes void? Or do the other 3 form an Accumulator on their own at reduced odds - is that something to do with the "Lucky 15"?
I am sorry, but I'm interested & really don't know how it works.
Lucky 15 is a bet that consists of 15 bets Lie In. 6 Doubles, 4 Trebles, 4 Singles and a Four timer. Although Ken has one selection down he still has a treble, 3 singles and 3 doubles to rely on.
