Snooker question

OK i'm pretty good at the rules of the game but there's always been one thing that is not clear. When on a free ball, it is a foul to snooker with that ball but for it to be a foul must it be closest to the white. eg after a foul I'm snookered on the yellow so I play the green as a free ball and tuck up behind the brown but the green runs off a cushion and also gets itself between the white and the yellow. So now the brown is in front of the white and the green is in front of the brown and both are blocking the yellow, is that a foul?

Definition of a snooker from the rules of the game:

“If the cue ball is obstructed by more than one ball, the one nearest to the cue ball is the effective snookering ball.”

So, Canis, in your example the brown is the snookering ball (being closest to the white) and as you played the green as your free ball no foul has been committed.
