Morning punters, proper NH weather out there and I'm glad to be at home and warm. Good sport all round today what with the Ashes, Footie and the Rugby all on tv as is the racing. E/W betting today as the ground looks desperate and could well throw up a few surprises.
Hitherjacques Lady @7/1 1.30 Ascot
Verni @5/1 1.50 Haydock
Silsol @22/1 2.25 Haydock
Chase The Spud @15/2 3.35 Haydock

Anyway, I've got my weekly chuckle to look forward to when I check the results later.
Good Luck today.

Some of the mid summer meetings at Chester are as good out as a day at Ascot or Goodwood Capito. Especially when the sun is out. We used to catch the 8am train from Llandudno Junction and the last train back at about 10pm. The walk through town involved a drink in every pub on the way. Couldn't manage that now.
In my very humble opinion, Haydock is the worst course i have ever visited. Full of shysters and doom mongers (there's always a guy there wearing placards that proclaim the imminent end of the world) and very unfriendly staff. Beverley, despite being quite a hike, is by far the friendliest course i have been to (several times) and, on a nice day, is also one of the more picturesque.
Anyway, back to the job in hand; providing a chuckle for the Captain (ex L/Bdr 4155 stands to attention and salutes);
1.50 Hay; Diamond Fort @ 13/2
2.25 Hay; Sam Spinner @ 7/1
3.35 Hay; Catamaran Du Seuil @ 9/1
Win singles, 20p R Robin and 50p e.w. treble - just £7 back for the e.w. but £490 for 3 winners.
2.05 Asc; Top Notch @ 5/2
3.00 Hay; Cue Card @ 2/1 (gotta give the old guy another chance)
3.15 Asc; Sire De Grugy @ 5/1
Trixie and treble = just shy of £440 if all 3 oblige.
Best of luck

Just the one meaningful winner, unfortunately, but it was my Nap (RC Forum monthly nap comp - couple of folk on here are members and can attest to my having napped Sam Spinner (should anyone doubt my word)). Total stake was £33, total returns = £80 ergo profit £47. Not great, but much better than a smack in the face with a wet kipper.
Well done with the Spud, Togo.
