In the banquet of national hunt racing, Cheltenham is the main course and Aintree the dessert - the Grand National aside, of course. Many of those who took part in the Festival also try their luck at Aintree where, quite often, tables are turned with Cheltenham losers becoming Aintree winners.
Though the fields are generally smaller at Aintree, the trends are just as strong and i'm hoping for a decent first day;

1.45; Glen Forsa @ 7/2
2.20; Pentland Hills @ 9/4
2.50; Kemboy @ 15/8
3.25; Buveur D'air @ 10/11*

50p Yank, £1 trebles, £1 acca = £10.50 stake. Poss return of £317.75.

*Wouldn't normally touch odds-on chances (had hoped for evens) but, if it stays on it's feet, it could be the banker of the day.

4.05; Ucello Conti @ 9/1
4.40; Brelan D'as @ 9/1
5.15; Misty Whisky @ 7/1

Win singles, .50 Patent, .75p e.w. Treble = £20 stake. 3 placed = £14, 3 winners = £1,068.

Good luck anyone having a punt today

Don't wanna put you off, Togo, but i've also been looking at Vintage Clouds :-) Along with Walk On The Mill and a couple of others.
I have always enjoyed watching TV racing but I find ITV's coverage a bit difficult to watch. You have Richard Hoiles who talks about Horses being played as if they were playing cards when he is commentating on a race you have that irritant Matt Chapman and also that Irish leprechaun Brian Gleeson. Then you get Ed Chamberlain almost licking A.P. MCoys' boots. The one I do like on there is Oli Bell.

Just checking through my emails and came across one from the Racing Post titled, "Find out your Grand National horse". So, for a bit of fun, i clicked on it and answered 3 questions; Which football team do i support, which celebrity would i allow to manage my team (Trump, Piers Morgan, Alan Patridge and Kim Kardashian (i chose the sanest of the 4 - Alan Partridge)) and who do i consider to have been the best footballer ever. The choice was the usual suspects and i opted for Pele. There was no clicking and whirring as the RP computer digested my answers. Instead, instantly i had answered the 3rd, up popped the name of A Splash Of Ginge @ 66/1 along with a little write up; "Redheaded manager Sean Dyche knows how to gear his team up for the demands of the battle." Not only does it not run, it isn't even a reserve!!

Needed the fav to win to show a profit for that bet, Togo (Just £6 back). The interference it suffered didn't do it any good. Not saying it would have won for sure but it's momentum was definitely checked and it didn't go down by much. Still, 3 more to come.

Another bloody good ride by a female rider, there. Looked beaten coming to the last.
Haha Ken. You looking at Vintage Clouds does not put me off in the least. Have just got back after nipping down to the village whilst the rain and sleet had stopped. Wonder what my nag would be if I put in my "team", Trump and Sir Stan. You are not far off with the assessment Grumpy...….they do so love themselves don't they.
They do Togo. They could do with a few lessons from Robert Cooper on SSR.

Sir Stan isn't on the list so i've chosen Pele for you. Your horse is Step Back. "It's been non stop set backs for Stoke in recent years, maybe this one will be their last."
After a good day yesterday I’m using their money so here goes...
1.45 Koboruk
2.20 Aramon
2.50 Chris’s Dream
3.25 Politologue
4.05 Adrien Du Pont
4.40 Walk Away
5.15 Hazm

Good luck all
Crikey Panky….you like an early start. Seems to work for you mind. 2 winners and 3 placed for you yesterday. Eill post when I have had a look. Need to be handy myself today as I have a few errands to run so that I can get back for the off. Ta Ken...….No Sir Stan on the list? Not much of a list them. (^_*) Pele has to be the second choice I suppose and Step Back Looks a live contender.
Couple of tricky handicaps with big fields today. Try for a bit of E/W. Plus do an ITV7 and a little E/W Acca on the 7...……..you never know. 2,000,000/1.

Canardier @7/1* 1.45
Winston C @10/1 2.50
Ballyhill @15/2* 4.05
Go Another One @28/1 4.40

£1.00 E/W Acca. 20p E/W Trebles & Doubles.

ITV7. The bottom three of the above with Topofthegame 2.50Aint., Jokers and Rogues 3.15Sedge., Min 3.25Aint., Desert Ruler 3.40Leics.
Not really an early start Togo, more a case of a quiet night shift, along with the ITV7, William Hill do a similar one called a Lucky7 so worth doing as they’re free to enter
Righto Panky…...I though you were an insomniac. :)) Do you do Friday nights or Sunday nights. When I was at pit I hated doing a Friday night when all my mates were on the lash. Mind you we could get a pint at 7am in the Malt Shovel that was 500 yards from the head sticks. Long time ago. 1965/6!
Unfortunately my nights go from Saturday to Saturday plus a few nights overtime after that then a week off, used to it now but another 5 years then I’m done with it and taking early retirement, those days of having a pint between shifts are long gone, you can’t even fart at work now thanks to elf n safety!
Haha Panky…..glad I'm done with the nonsense. We couldn't have a pint whilst working. It was after a bath and a bit of breakfast at the canteen. Most mines had a pub or club somewhere nearby that had special licences to serve, out of what were strict licencing hours, a drink to men who had just come off a night shift.

Morning guys and well done with the first and last yesterday, Panky. I looked long and hard at The Glancing Queen given King's record in the race but, on closer inspection, i found that he doesn't always win it with his first string runner. So i left him alone completely :-(
I begin day 2 £25.50 down so i'm hoping that i've successfully crunched the numbers today. You'll see that, once again, i have an odds on jolly in one of my bets and, again, i was hoping for evens. Maybe it will go out?

1.45; Espirit Du Large @ 9/1 (Win single)
4.05; Kilcrea Vale @ 16/1 (Each way single)
4.40; Dallas Des Pictons @ 5/1 (Win single)
5.15; Master Debonair @ 10/1 (Win single)

20p Lucky 15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = £69, 4 winners = £10,688.

2.20; Precious Cargo @ 4/1
2.50; Topofthegame @ 5/6
3.25; Politologue @ 5/2

£1 Trixie, £1 Treble. Poss £97 return.

Done Placepot, Willy Hill's Lucky 7* and ITV 7 - made up with Rossmore's Pride and Showroom.

*I do the Lucky 7 with WH on a regular basis and, while i know it's a free entry, i can never resist having a £1 e.w. acca on it. Just about to do so now. Best of luck chaps:-)

By the way, Togo, the 'list' was made up of just Ronaldo, Messi, Maradonna, Zidane (?) and Pele. No Stan Matthews or Chris Waddle (hahahahahahahahahaha) i'm afraid.
Darn it, a non runner in the 4.40. So I have put in Emitom in for all bets. The edit facility is a mare on 365 but easy for the ITV7. Glad I checked before I have to nip out.
You were right then Ken.....I would not have picked the show ponies but I did like Zidane. Particularly when he dropped the Italian Materazzi at the World Cup Final. Plus I only picked Trump to manage my horses because he would have lied to them and convinced them all that they were Shergar.
Well despite dashing about, I have not been in long. No joy with the punts, just a couple of places, so have a last minute double on Emitom in the 4.40 and Santa Rossa in the bumper.
