Sandwiched between the US Open and The Open, the Travellers Championship Tournament gets underway tomorrow at TPC River Highlands, Hartford. Once again, i have studied what the 'experts' are predicting, looked at the history of the tournament and the nature of the course.

World Number One, Scottie Scheffler, is in great form heading into this tournament and, but for the odd error, he could well have forced a play-off with Matt Fitzpatrick last week.

Xander is certainly doing his best to win me a few quid. 3 holes to play and he is on -7, a stroke ahead of Martin Laird of Scotland, who has played two holes fewer. Then there's a chasing pack all on -5 and 3 of hose have played a hole or two fewer.

And, right on cue, as i typed the above, American Charles Howell birdied the 17th to join Laird on 6 under.

I've had a £1.50 e.w. on Bradley Keegan to be 1st round late leader @ 28/1 - 1/4 odds to 5 places.

Schauffele finished on -7 but McIlroy birdied the last to go -8:-(

Still, Mac's looking good for a top ten as long as he doesn't buckle :-)

Just discovered a £2 free bet in my Silly Bill account, so i've put it on Schauffele to win outright @ 5/1.

Schauffele does the business and, while it's only a tenner back, it does mean that i am in some sort of form having backed the winner of the last 2 competitions. Which augurs well for next week's John Deere Classic, fingers crossed.
