It's Saturday. Just realised too late on the day I forget to check my DT that the Weekend section is missing. So no crossword. So what can I do? Is there a slim chance I won last week (despite Royal Mail strike)? Can I do the crossword on-line? (My better half is always asking for Christmas present ideas). How I envy you regular AB/DT/GK friends whose nom de plumes I rely on every Saturday. Guess it's back to Come Dancing and Casualty. Top Cat RIP
I have similar problems as I live abroad and don't get DT until Saturday pm (if at all) and have occasions when sections missing.
Message in paper this week that due to postal strike ,solutions and prizewinners will be published on October 20th.
Yep can register to do crossword online, think it costs 30GBP a year
I don't live abroad but have similar problems - bought the paper at tesco 5 miles away only to get home to find no weekend section, took it back got another , got home , discovered no sports section!
Not sure why they can't wrap the whole lot in a plastic wallet like the Sunday Times. Suppose then you couldn't check if it was all there. More to the point, I'm surprised I am so addicted! Anyway, who won?
after this happening to me, I always check to see the Weekend section is inside and the travel section but not the rest. Try not to buy at a supermarket you will find that customers remove the free CD or DVD and hide it in the paper of their choice so they probably take bits from the papers too, sad arent they ?
With reference to missing sections in the Telegraph - I have found this once or twice in the supermarket and when it is pointed out to staff they will only say "they haven't sent them", 'they' presumably being the supplier.
What also concerns me is that the supermarket is quite happy to leave the newspaper on sale (cost 1.90 on Sunday) without the sections, at the full price.
Just read your exchanges about missing sections and just want to make 2 points:
1) if ANY part of your paper is missing you can ring DT customer services and they will mail you the missing segment. The main switchboard is 020 7931 3000.
2) PLEASE make a fuss about this - the Telegraph will only make changes to their delivery procedures if they know their readers are getting short-changed; the vendors (supermarkets or others) really don't give a damn - they get their profit come-what-may!
