Why does everyone hate Manchester United?

Where I was dragged up, they have 2 football teams (I use the phrase loosely) who obviously wouldn't know a football if it hit them in the face. So it's easier for us to hate you all than pick a favourite.

There is a long history of hatred between Liverpool and Man Utd going back decades.
I have witnessed the violence in the past as I have attended many Matches between the two sides and it will not go away either.

I think I have told you that when my father was younger they went to Man Utd and City
I think the hostility between the cities of Manchester and Liverpool dates way back. Something to do with the ports and the Manchester canals

i'm not overly keen on man u, because i like the underdog but man u have one of the best football managers that have ever walked the planet in Fergie and a very nice chap he is as well

The OP asked Why Manchester United are so hated and myself and many others have offered our thoughts and ideas on this subject, I believe thats how this site works? Man U are hated, more than likely because of their sucess as many have rightly pointed out but as i also stated many of their fans are Glory Hunters who only support them because they win, they dont go to the matches, have no ties whatsoever with the club and arent in many peoples eyes proper football supporters who (generally) support their local team etc. Its certainly the case where i live and they are ridiculed because of it.

Ive just asked a small child to explain it to me but they just told me to ignore you as you are extremely rude and should learn some manners, i think they have a good point?
