Afternoon,
I was just wondering do F1 cars still have a reverse gear? I know they used to as that was one of the differences between a car and a cart but I haven't seen an F1 car going backwards for quite sometime.

the regulations say they have to have a reverse gear, but apparently it's not much practical use

Thanks Gunyard I had a suspicion they still had them.
Given the extensive run-off areas these days there is probably not many(if any) times when one would be needed. I seem to remember in the old days they all had to have one but it was amazing how many times the selector couldn't find it.

Thanks sddsddean!
Google is a wonderful thing D!!
Reverse is rarely needed but out of all the tracks I would guess Monaco is most likely to be the one where it would be used.
