I expect many know that Gary has apparently hanged himself today. I am just wondering, other than depression, what massive events have caused him to end his life.

Whatever physical or emotional pain he was suffering from is now over. Why he chose to end his life this way is nothing to do with anyone but his family.

Its only natural to wonder though daffy. When someone so young and successful takes their own life, we all wonder why in a sympathetic rather than intrustuve way.

I do not know what other aspects to his life existed other than depression that you mentioned in your post.

He apparently as well respected and a nice guy ta-boot.

He really must have been in a dark place mentally. Who knows what goes on in some minds.

Someone does not have to have a massive event going on in their lives to want to kill themselves.

It could have been that he thought he couldn't keep up the good job he has done with Wales and was worried about failure or his wife said she wanted a divorce or simply he was worried that the world may end in 2012.

Whatever reasons someone has for killing themselves are important to them no matter what we think.

So sad - just watched his last interview yesterday, he looked so happy and nothing amiss at all - how terribly tragic for his family and friends.

I'm sure most of us when we heard about this were thinking 'Why' but we should not speculate as there are many reasons why this happened.

Ankou, sorry to hear that this happened with your Uncle. You say the family never found out why he did it. Hope this doesn't sound like a strange question but would the family want to know why he did it?
