Theresa May, George Osborne, and now Jeremy Hunt all booed at the Paralympics.

When is it David Cameron's turn?

Cameron presented medals at the swimming.
he already has been, sorry not the right time or place to boo politicians.
Not when you could throw javelins at them.
it's stupid, this is a major sporting event, the athletes have trained years for this, so if you are standing on a podium waiting for that medal, whatever shade, then why should you hear booing. It isn't for them i know, but it shows bad manners all round from people who should know better.
So they must be renamed the Labourlympics.

Anyway, what are active politicians doing at such events, acting in a ceremonial capacity? That's what we pay the Royal Family for.
Hi Em. Don't know if you were there for any of the booing. I agree it shouldn't happen but as I said before, and it probably doesn't make sense if you weren't in the stadium, but it was a strange, almost good humoured booing when I was there. Almost expected and with a lot of laughter.

I didn't know that Em, but I completely agree with you on the second point.
i attended twice at these magical games, had i been a winner, i would hate to hear anything but cheering. We all yelled, clapped and stamped feet in love, appreciation at these wonderful athletes, and no i wasn't there when booing went on, and i wouldn't have done it. If they are daft enough to think that by booing, even so called good naturedly then some have missed the point of the games.
you hear booing because the organisers thought it would be a great idea to get unpopular politicians in to present the medals. Easy solution: don't.
There is a great number of former Olympian medalists who would probably be thrilled to be given the opportunity to present medals. Why choose politicians? It seems ironic that the medal ceremonies are in recognition of achievements yet the medals are presented by non-achievers, a number of whom are an embarrassment.
As you know Em I loved these games and everything that went with them. There should have been no booing but it really did cause laughter and the tremendous cheering that happened either side of the booing made it even funnier. I'm not excusing the people who booed but it did cause lots of good humour and in no way detracted from the medal ceremonies on the days I was there. I think, from their faces, and I really hope, that the athletes were amused and not upset.
People who booed do not need excusing, they booed because they were protesting about a govt who seek to oppress the disabled in a way no modern govt ever has....and guess what it worked because you are all talking about it.
i am only talking about it because i think it was wrong on every level.
As someone has pointed out, had those people refused to attend, to give out the medals you could see the headline, politicians refuse to hand out medals to disabled athletes, tabloid, times you name it would have had a field day. As the saying goes damned if you do, damned if you don't.
i am also one of those affected by the cuts, in a big way, but i still wouldn't have booed, it's discourteous and unnecessary.
I really am not explaining very well. Had I not been there for the ceremonies I would have probably thought...that's a shame.
There was an unspoken....../we will show our feelings/ throughout the stadium.
The contrast between the reception for Theresa May and the thunderous applause and cheers for Tessa Sanderson let it be known who, in our opinion, was entitled to be there and greatly respected for achievement. A message that needed to be put over I think.
Doesn't matter WHY you are are talking about it Em just that you ARE talking about it. You're not supposed to like protests you're supposed to notice them, which you did so job done, and to my knowledge none of the athletes concerned have said they felt slighted or disrespected as it's clear the cheering is for the athletes and the booing for the politicians.
i still it was wrong.

///had those people refused to attend, to give out the medals you could see the headline, politicians refuse to hand out medals to disabled athletes///

em10 - you are missing the point. THOSE PEOPLE should never have been invited.

Honestly, if there had been a medal ceremony at Hillsborogh Football Ground, do you think Jeremy Hunt would relish presenting a medal?

I think not, those 'irresponsible, awful, terrible, disgraceful football hooligans' would have sorted him.
so you don't think the equally spineless Labour government wouldn't have had to do the same.
