Is this really the 'like something form a horror film' injury that is keeping him from playing for his club and country?
I've seen rugby players with similar injuries sprint off a filed, get a bit of rope stitched in and be back playing in 5 minutes.
Terry Butch and Stuart Pearce can only shake their heads in wonder at what a player will use as an excuse not to play for the shirt these days.

As I say, playing for the shirt means very little these days.

Back in the old days when footballers were hard, had names like chopper, never kissed each other, never swore at refs or cheated and owned pubs they would have sellotaped a fillet steak over that cut and played on.
Because of all the headers during the ninety minutes the steak would have been lovingly tenderised and after the game the missus would cook it for them. And all that for £5 a week.

So, Burt aside RIP. if England don't qualify for Brazil... its Rooneys fault for being a wimp.

As a Welshman who lost interest in football quite some time ago, I'm indifferent to that. I just marvel at the wages earned and attitude of those earning them, along with the ridiculously astronomical fee paid for my fellow countryman, particularly when Spain is going to hell in a handcart.

Hmmm, seems that when it comes to playing for club, they can sort him out:
