It does make me wonder what you've got to do to get a nomination. Tai Woffinden wins the World Speedway title (At just 23 years of age), despite crashing and breaking the same Collarbone TWICE, and Tom Sykes wins the World Superbike Championship and neither get a tickle??? Woffi has to race in 12 rounds across Europe including one meeting in New Zealand. He also was racing in the UK for Wolverhampton and a team in Poland. Sykesy had to race twice in one day for 14 rounds, spanning the globe.

I have noticed on here many times that it's OK to favour particular sportsmen/women over others and it's accepted with grace but as soon as anyone says they don't like Andy Murray then they get snotty comebacks.

I think Murray's okay, not as good or as sexy as Federer but he's okay.

I think it's possible to like all of the Big Four in tennis at once. surely one of the best eras for the sport, with Nadal and Djoker and Federer and Murray all competing with each other at the same time.

Well you are entitled to your opinion, but if you are going to criticise the personality of someone you probably don't really know all that well then that is arguably an invitation to snotty replies. Having said that, I don't think anyone has been snotty :-) I reckon jim is right. Andy's flat vocal delivery doesn't help his case but then some of the great comedians have had deadpan voices. And arguably he's to be commended for "being himself" and not selling himself to a smarm offensive for the media.

I will admit, in spite of it all, to loving Murray, Nadal and Djokovic, being less keen on Federer, and to my shame detesting the Williams sisters. I know it's wrong but I just can't help it :-)

It was based on the pure title of the award 'sports personality'. The roasted chestnuts, the tabloid reading, the 'aah another person who missed' were perceived as a snotty by me. It's no big deal, as said we all have our opinions.

Some Murray haters on AB base it solely on the "anyone but England" quote and simply ignore that it was said in jest even when that is pointed out.

Djokovic strikes me as a thoroughly good guy, but then I don't really know him. He's better than Slobodan Milosevic by some distance :-)

I can promise you his remark about football has never affected my opinion. I can't help that I don't like him. I don't like Djokovic either, I don't like his hair...

It wasn't meant to be snotty, although the subtext is certainly rolling my eyes at something I see as a bit old-hat and wrong. But I guess it's really just a difference of opinion.
