I suppose if the pipes were allowed, the English would have their big drum pounding away all the time. At least a tune can be played on pipes rather than the same rhythm on a big drum.
Because they are vile, the work of the devil. They should be banned everywhere. I have the same attitude to bagpipes as you have to cigarettes. They inflict their foul noise on other people.
Yet the hakka has to be allowed, why no Morris dancing or whatever is traditional in other countries? Remember those awful pipes in South Africa in the World Cup?
...the only thing which grates more on the ear than the sound of bagpipes is the sound of Nicola Sturgeon's voice.
Bagpipes are only ever acceptable as part of a pipe band.

Individually it is cruelty to animals.
The same could be said of violins. Massed violins are heavenly, a lone one is sheer torture.
I agree zebo, if the English team were allowed morris dancing just before the match started they could have slipped in a couple of try's while the welsh team were still laughing.

well I must be unusual because I like the bagpipes!
Love bagpipe music. I defy anyone to listen to Highland Cathedral by the massed pipes and drums without a tear in their eye.
I can only tolerate drones for so long....
Vulcan, I didn't say it would be pretty!! Any help would have done though, maybe next Saturday, can the Aussies laugh?
"Don't bring anything which obstructs anyone else's view"

Be honest, if you had the Power to ban Bagpipes you just would,
wouldn't you?
if israel were playing in the tournament, it's a certainty they would not be fielding a morris side.
Love them in a band only.
You can't bring bagpipes into the actual stadium without either deafening someone or obstructing their view. So quite sensible, if a pity.
I used to wonder why selfie sticks were banned: until I actually saw one and wondered no more. Instead, I have seen a few human "selfie sticks" at the games I've been to: in other words: tap the person in front of you politely on the shoulder and ask him/her to take a picture of you. Works a treat!
Perhaps organisers thought that the Lament For The English Game on the pipes would tip supporters over the edge. :-)
If you happen to have managed to get the cheapest seat at the recent South Africa v Japan game played at Brighton .. £180.
The last thing you would want is some ballon head with a big hat sitting in front of you ... as 'part of the experience'.
£180 for the cheapest seat?
Some mistake surely!!
The tickets have been a bit pricey but anyone who paid that sort of money for the cheapest seat can't have got it from an official source
