Could this be it?
TOTE QUADPOT

This is exactly the same as the Placepot, but is on the third, fourth, fifth and sixth races - a bit of a consolation bet if you get knocked out of Placepot in first two races.

Try this website for all the info.
pilot I think that some bookies offer a consolation payout if you get 4 or 5 correct. You would need to check the nitty grittys where you lay your punt. I am assuming you know what the placepot bet is.

Sorry fellas, Non of these are the answer.
I think it has only been going for a few days. The results page on racing post website gives information regarding tote payouts after the last race result for each meeting. ie. jackpot, placepot , quadpot.
Now there is an additional 'consolation placepot' payout directly after the jackpot details.
Thanks anyway for your replies.
Think it might be a placepot bet that includes six races covering several of the bigger fields, over two or more meetings... !! Must admit to never having heard of it though ?? Think also that it may only have started a few days ago... !!

Scroll down until you come to Tote Scoop6 and it explains that it is a consolation prize as in horses that are placed in the Scoop6 races but this is a different fund/bet to the placepot.

If you are meaning CSF after with all the other details that means Computer Straight Forecast. Apparently you do this at the tote.

Sorry Sic, its not that. Todays Consolation Placepot at Pontefract paid £1312 to a £1 stake, whereas the ordinary placepot paid £286.80 to a £1 stake.
Had a look at the results from today and yesterday, could it be a consolation prize if you do the "jackpot" win only for the first six races at the JACKPOT meeting of that day ? And if nobody has a horse placed in the top three (depending on the number of runners) it rolls over to the next jackpot meeting the following day ? To qualify you have to play the jackpot only..!!
Googled "consolation placepot" earlier, found a post there that led me to my first answer which I now think is wrong.
^^
All of which is assuming that nobody has won the JACKPOT... !!
I have looked at the figures you are talking about and the consolation is if a horse is placed in the Jackpot fund. Same as the placepot but a different bet.
Question Author
I believe I may have found the answer. The Tote have recently changed the Jackpot. i.e. the Jackpot is no longer necessarily confined to one meeting ( it can consist of races from different meetings ).
A placepot has been devised to accompany this Jackpot. The Racing Post, when providing the results, list this placepot as ' consolation placepot'. There are still placepots for each individual meeting.
I think I have got this right, although I hope someone will advise if not.
