I remember as a child, watching my Dad putting his fingers in his ears and closing his eyes when the football results came up on the telly because he was saving himself for watching it later. It's not difficult.
Alas...
Those who value their ability to jump up and down demonstrating their inside/early knowledge of a result more highly than the desires of others wishing to find out later or in a different manner will always spoil things for other people.....
I wanterd Croatia to win but can't, honestly, begrudge France their victory.
Best tweet, "I'm not normally bothered about football but it's quite exhilarating hearing all your neighbours shout, "Oh ***!" at the exact same moment."
Nicely put JtH - the desire for the illusory kudos of being the 'first with the news' seems to outweigh all other thoughts for some people.
Dunno Zacs - possibly in ancient AB history. It's true I spend a lot of time trying to keep the AB front page and latest posts 'clean' of this type of (deliberate?) unhelpfulness - but I haven't been a victim for quite a while and am still cursing an idle 'click on a link' when a theoretically harmless email pinged in my inbox.
^But if you were remotely interested in the result you would turn on the TV and watch the match so coming onto AB wouldn't make much difference. I have no idea who won Wimbledon. If I cared, I would have recorded the match or watched it on catch up but I don't care because I have been busy working so if I see the result on Ab, it is not much of a consequence. Who won it anyway? -)
No-one says it is...
But the polite convention on forums is not to be so blatent in a post.
Your heading was unavoidable, even for those purposely avoiding the Sports section.
