stargate sg-1

(i'm putting this question in here because adverts is dissapeared from my list and when i go type in the link i can't type a question in at the top)
why is there a lack of adverts for stargate sg-1 on sky one. shows like nip/tuck and weeds have lods of adverts. i have never watched an episode of nip/tuck, but i know what it is about because of all the adverts. come to think of every thing new sky one shows they have a million adverts for it. why is sg-1 different?

Hi potterfan. I have no idea, but I am a fan of SG1 too, and maybe because it has so many fans who tune in every week, it doesnt need to be advertised..

Is it still going? I honestly thought it had all ended when O'Neill finally took all of SG1 fishing. Am I missing another series? Dammit!!!

yes sg1 series 9 tuesdays 8pm and atlantis series 2 wednesdays 8pm sky one

Maybe because the current seasons of both shows have been a bit poor so far :-( . (Though Claudia Black is great!)

yes lemarchand. they gave it less advertising for it because it was bad. it has 9 series alot of the other things on sky one never come back. and what do u mean poor? it is way better than things like weeds. whats that all about. maybe you should watch it before you make judments. not just "oo a sci fi progamme must be crap"

potterfan3, I'd be grateful if you could explain where in my post it said that SG was "crap because it was Sci-Fi", or that I hadn't watched it.

1) I suspect that I have been an SF fan since before you were born.

2) I saw the original film at the cinema, and have watched every episode of the show from the pilot onwards.

The show has never been more than entertaining (if you want a truly Great - with a capital "G" - SF show, the current incarnation of "Battlestar Galactica" knocks spots off "Stargate") however, if you read my post (I know that it might be a bit more complex than JK Rowling's prose) you will see that I said that I thought that the current seasons of both shows had been a bit poor. The (un)smiley also indicated that this was disappointing to me.

By the way, whilst I have yet to make my mind up about "Weeds" (what I've seen so far has been merely "OK"), "Nip/Tuck" is a far better show than Stargate,

if nip/tuck is better than stargate why dose it need more advertising?

Alas, quality is no guarantee of an audience. If it was, we wouldn't have to suffer rubbish such as the likes of the various Z list celebrity shows and Big Brother, and shows like Firefly would never have been cancelled.

At least Sky are supporting shows like Nip/Tuck and Deadwood which have quality writing, even if the audiences might not be huge.

Yes, but the only reason i don't watch Nip/Tuck is because the adverts are really annoying and long, and you know everything that happens without watching it.
