The Aussie open starts tonight, one of my fave tennis tournaments.

Who will you be rooting for??

The Next Gen players are good and worth keeping an on. Look out for De Minaur and Tsitsipas.

Will be having a fiesta so I can last through the night!!

I think you mean ‘siesta’.

Yes Zacs, bloddy predictive text!!!
Sharon. We should all have a fiesta every day ;-)
De minaur is what I got for my Geology A level.
Should it not be a "miner" for geology?
In the men's championships, i would be quite surprised if the title does not go to either Djokerman or Fed. Roger Federer has won the last 2 and 6 in all since 2004 while the Djokerman has also won 6 titles. Since 2006, only 2 others have been able to prise the cup away from those 2; Nadal in 2009 and Wawrinka in 2014. With Novak seemingly close to his best, i have had a decent little punt @ 5/4, with a saver on a reverse forecast Djoko/Fed @ 7/2.
The women's title looks a more complicated, wide open affair with Serena Williams at the head of affairs @ 4/1 fav showing just how open it is. I wouldn't like to pin my colours to anyone's mast, just yet, but i do have a sneaky fancy for Karolina Pliskova. She had a good 2018 and is a former World ranked number 1. Have had a bit of an each way bet on her @ 18/1.
Just how much of the tournament i will catch live remains to be seen.

Annie, I agree!

Ken, the men's I think it will be won by an unknown, i.e: not one of the big 3.
The womens, a little trickier, would like to see Azarenka or Bertens.
Azarenka has won it twice but her form now is way off what it used to be. I'm watching Sabalenka, Svitolina and Wozniaki will do her darnedest to hang on to the title. Can't wait for it to start.
I'm amazed no-one has commented yet on the Andy Murray game ....perhaps you're all too busy glued to the TV to write !
I didn't see the point, the only feature of interest was the standing ovation Murray was going to get after his comprehensive defeat at the hands of Bautista Agut...

Or at least, that was what I thought was going to happen. Now he's 2 sets all, 1-0 and 0-15 after a stupid comeback.
Not a fan, then Jim ?
Are you kidding? I'm a huge fan, but he's announced his impending retirement and based on the way he was playing earlier this year I didn't think he'd be up to any standard. So I just was looking forward to seeing the last respect for one of the modern greats.

Didn't expect him to make such a fight of it! Kind of amazing.
Andy Murray has lost.
As I mentioned in my previous post, he should retire NOW.
May be his way of bidding goodbye to all the grand slam venues. Nice to see how much support there was for him.
Question Author
Yes the support from the crowd was brilliant. Whatever anyone says, Andy gave it his all.
Sharon being a Scotsman he would give his all just like we do in the World Cup qualifying round in the football
Question Author
Of course Jordy!
