/// Edgbaston is traditionally a stronghold of India and Paksitan supporters at international tournaments, so much so that Morgan anticipates an atmosphere more like an away game. ///

Seems like these India and Pakistan fans don't consider themselves English.

AOG, they are not English, they are British.Would you expect Italians, for instance, who live in England to support England when the play Italy at Wembley?
What if the fans have dual nationality? Even if they haven't, there's nothing wrong with supporting the team of your parents' birth.

i suppose the Pakistan fans at the match will be cheering on England?

Oh! that's alright then, it is now safe to say that although they have chosen to settle in England or having been born in England, they are not really English, without one being classed a racist?
AOG>No need to be so facetious. You know very well that they are British.
Since when has living in or being born in this country meant you cannot support a team or a person from another country?

No such country, they chose to live in the British Isles ie The United Kingdom, but if a citizen of Scotland they would be Scottish, or Northern Irish if a citizen Northern island, or Welsh if a citizen of Wales etc.

But if they wish to call themselves British, that's fine by me, just as long as it doesn't stop me from being proud to describe myself as a true Englishman, born and bred.

After choosing to leave their own countries so as to take benefit of the amenities and standard of living of this country, just makes one wonder in a time of conflict against their mother country, who's side would they then support?
Strange logic AOG.
If someone from Islington happens to support Manchester City, are you saying that they are not really a Londoner?
There are many factors involved in choosing a spirts team to support. Sometimes your birthplace and your ethnicity might leave you with a choice.
Just because someone with Indian heritage likes to watch Indian sports stars, or watch Bollywood movies or eat spicey food does not bar them from being British. What influenced them as a child, there up bringing and the education from their parents will all play a part in selecting allegiance to a team.
Good grief, we're off to war now!

Serious this sport stuff isn't it?

No it's all in the quest for 'togetherness' that we are constantly encouraged to follow.

Or at least the English are.
Is the game on terrestrial TV or just radio?
My youngest brother supported Leeds much to the annoyance of my Father.

Do we have English passports?
Lynne depends whether you like cricket or not I suppose?~ a lot riding on game for a "must win" for England
Maybe they consider themselves English (or British) except when it comes to cricket.

Just a thought.
It's on Sky sport Tony
ANOTHEOLDGIT, when you said "No such country" what did you mean?
I'd not be surprised if there were Kiwi or Australian fans who were living or born here, odd that their loyalties are not being questioned...
Didnt realise it started so early, will not be a difficult target to beat, unless we field really well?
