As Leger Holidays already sells holidays by coach, I can't see that it will make a lot of difference if they've simply taken on the 'Shearings' brand name. They'll just offer some holidays as 'Leger' and others as 'Shearings'.

Both companies were far from cheap. It would be better for many potential customers if some brave company was prepared to take over the 'National Holidays' part of Shearings, which offered fantastic value for money.

Shearings were dirt cheap. 5 days half board including all travel, excursions, entertainment and 4 free drinks every night for £70.

Yes I had afew holidays with Shearings. I had to pay a single supplement but the holidays in total were 'cheap as chips'

We used Shearings once a couple of years ago and found them to be good value for money. Since they have gone out of business we now have two seafront hotels where we live in Devon that are now closed. One thing I wasn't so keen on was the sometimes very long wait at a meeting point for other coaches to arrive so that people could change coaches. Would use them again though.

Perhaps Shearings advertised different prices regionally.

A few years ago I met some people who were on holiday with National Holidays in Folkestone, paying just £99 for return travel from the Midlands, with 3 nights half-board, a day trip to Canterbury, a day trip to the continent, a discounted bar in the hotel and nightly entertainment. When I checked to see if I could get anything similar from East Anglia, I found that National Holidays didn't operate from around here and Shearings wanted about £350 just for a weekend break.

I have never seen that sort of charge for a Shearings weekend, unless it was for one of their two 'Country Living' hotels, one in Bath and the other in Harrogate. These were there premium hotels and had a spa, pool, gym and better food and facilities.
Otherwise £99 for a 4 night break including travel etc and £79 for a three night weekend break was the norm.

£350 for a weekend break is what I would expect to pay for a Warner hotel.
