.........oh no it isn't! The usual gubbins in all the papers about how England are going to win The World Cup. They're in poor form, so I can't see why anyone would predict an England tournament win. As mentioned in a previous post, England are a good side. They will give anyone a good game. But they aint good enough. That's just the way it is......

Well, 6-2 is a good start isn't it? Can't argue with that but nothing has happened to make me change my mind.
After watching USA v Wales, I was waiting for the trophy to be presented to Wales, the way they were celebrating at the end. Wot? It was only a draw? Now that IS success for you!
Conceding two against an poor side isn't good, even if you've scored six. But the wrestle on Maguire should have been a penalty. The Iran player (forgot his name) should have had a second yellow. The refs have so far been poor, pity there isn't a system to pick up on the "obvious" errors of VAR.
Oi 10cs... I saw that! After been dreadful in the first half then going a goal down we could of collapsed but recovered really well and it gives us hope ... which is why we was celebrating.

Given the foul on Maguire in the 3rd minute, the penalty award to Iran was farcical.
As for conceding 2 against a poor side. Players can be forgiven for briefly 'switching off' in games where they are in complete control, imho. Take the penalty away and a 6-1 score-line would have been a truer reflection of the match.
A good start, but i still don't believe we'll make the semis.
The problem with the offside rule as it stands is that if any part of your body, from which you can legally score a goal, is ahead of the defender, the player is deemed offside. They were talking about the 'T-shirt line' - 3" below the shoulder. What a nonsense.
Had to laugh at Roy Keane's insistence that the penalty award was wrong. The guy had both arms around the attackers midriff and his sole intent was to prevent him from jumping to head the ball.
// International football quality is far below that of the top club sides //
Does this not put a different complexion on the tournament?
Is there not now a greater emphasis on the skill required from those international coaches taking part in the world cup?
Having chosen their squads. Selecting a team of eleven players (squad rotation) best suited to the various footballing styles other nations will present.
