It’s Christmas Eve! What Are We...

I can honestly say I'm stf with all this coverage. Look at it based on form.
Spain have won every game so far in this tournament, and against really strong teams.
England are unbeaten but unconvincing. On that basis, Spain have to be the strong favourites.
I want England to win but they need to improve greatly to beat Spain. I can't see it myself, based on what's happened so far.
And please cut all the gunge about "It's coming home". I don't think it is, but I hope I'm wrong.
England didn't reach the final via a golden buzzer, they made it there by beating off their opponents, whether through penalties or last-minute goals.
England could have played the best football ever but they'd still get criticised and people would still hope for them to get beaten.
I'll be rooting for them, right up to the final whistle.
“And please cut all the gunge about "It's coming home". I don't think it is, but I hope I'm wrong.”
I don’t think it is and I hope I’m right.
The hype and hysteria over this is astounding. Shops are closing early tonight and opening late tomorrow. The pubs are staying open until 1am (even though the match should be over by 10pm or thereabouts). There are calls for a Bank Holiday if England win. The “build up” has been going on since last Wednesday. Yesterday a British player lifted the Men’s Doubles Trophy at Wimbledon. Hardly a squeak about that on the telly. Instead we see footage of chavs in football shirts downing pints of lager in the street in Germany and chanting moronic messages.
If whatever “it” is “comes home” what has gone before will be but nothing. The fallout from it will be utterly insufferable. It won’t be worth buying a newspaper or watching or listening to the news for a fortnight.
Coming home? I’d much prefer it stayed exactly where it is.
