I've been a football fan for donkey's years, just for your information, therefore I think I have a reasonable knowledge of the game, having also played it and been a qualified referee for a number of years.
Now, although my first post referred to "men v boys", it was descriptive of what happened only in the final itself. To be honest, I was most disappointed that the game didn't live up to the pre match hype and expectations of I'm sure the majority of football fans.
Although I'm not a Man U fan, I was really disappointed at their inability to respond positively to Barcelona's first goal, and it never looked likely that they (Man U) would win. Actually, the fact that Barca only got one more goal was a bit of a mystery, such was their dominance.
There's an old football saying: "A team can only play as well as the opposition allows." That, for me, sums up the game. Man U, rather than having played badly, were simply not allowed to play well because Barcelona dominated in so many areas.
