Why did Lord Triesman leave?
He said F.I.F.A was corrupt, the media cried foul, set him up if memory serves, now the media announces that F.I.F.A is corrupt.
Were they angry for nearly wrecking their scoop?

Because the members of the bid team are not allowed to be rude to FIFAl.

They have to close their eyes to the corruption, and kiss FIFA's corrupt butts.

Lord Triesman told the truth ... the bid process is not legitimate ...

Yes - so true JJ....and now the three "lions" Cameron, Beckham and Prince William are in Zurich doing just that....what a waste of tax-payers money. Hope they enjoy their holiday in 5 star surroundings.
Just hope to God they are not successful in getting the vote for hosting the World Cup.

Note nothing from FIFA about investigating the 3 today - only the Olympics Assoc who are after the African as he is a member of both (august bodies).

Understand that one of them is 'talking' about suing the BBC for libel.......could be interesting if that went ahead......

As to Triesman, why doesn't he sue for wrongful dismisal now?

Yes, that was the guy who was invited to clarify what the money was for, but leapt into his car and drove off (or rather ... was "driven off" ... at someone else's expense, no doubt).

What a pity he missed that opportunity to "set the record straight".

He made comments about alleged bribery attempts by Spain and Russia of referees in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Triesman said, "There’s some evidence that the Spanish football authorities are trying to identify the referees ... and pay them"

Yes Steve - you are quite right the "three LIARS" is more correct.
It is amazing that the papers and the tv are all longing for us to win this bid , and yet most of the posts on this and other threads seem to be hoping we don't get it.
I think besides the financial aspect, which seems very dodgy - why do we want it here, tv coverage of all the games will be vast (as it was this year)
Did I see a roll of £50 notes in Beckhams pocket...or was he just pleased to see Prince William !!!
