Manchester United Ladies FC was founded in 1977 as Manchester United Supporters Club Ladies. They were officially brought under the banner of Manchester United FC at the start of the 2001–02 season, but they were controversially disbanded before the start of the 2004–05 season for financial reasons. However, Manchester United is still involved in girls' football, offering coaching to girls under the age of 16.
Manchester United have 4 girls teams under the Centre of Excellence cover. They are u10s u12s u14s and u16s. Most of the girls come right through the system but it is possible to get into the teams by trials for them. More info can be found at the Manchester United Foundation web site.
