video capture

hi all, quick question, i have just bought a smsung digi camcorder (tape version) i have all the leads etc can anyone advise on the best video capture programe to use, i have tried nero but the dvd playback is jumpy and i have no sound on my dvd but its on my camcorder, any advice / tip would be most helpfull
