I have been trying to update my iPhone 3 using iTunes, as it is requiring a software update to use various apps. Everytime I try to do this, it takes up three hours to sync/back-up the phone and always disconnects from my wireless internet connection in the meantime. - Can anyone explain why this is? - I have run a virus scan and tried this several times but the same thing keeps happening!!

That's what I have been doing! - Admittedly I have had the phone over a year and never updated it, but what confuses me is that my Internet Connection goes whilst it is backing the phone up, so when the back-up finishes, it asks me if I want to update and I of course say yes, but then it tries to update but the Internet connection has gone. I try to reconnect, but when I go to main screen to find a wireless network, it says none can be found. - It is not just my network either as whenever I normally try to manually connect, there are a few options, i.e. my neighbours.
sorry fella you've lost me,
you dont have to be "on line" to back your iphone up
and you can download the latest iphone update "on line" without the iphone being attached, obviously attach it update the download click on the update when you;ve got it all backed up,you need the itunes updating too the latest one is 10.2.2.12
that should read--obviously attach it to download the update to the phone
