IBack in 2009 my computer crashed . On switching it on, all I got was a blue screen. I remember getting help from a source, I can't remember from whom, telling me to continally keep pressing a particular F key and on doing this things began to work again. My computer is a Packard Bell Windows XP. Any help in jogging my memory on this will be appreciated.

Pressing F8 during the boot process will get you into Safe Mode, from where you can run System Restore (Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore) to take the registry back to a date when everything was working normally.

Thanks for the answer, I knew about that one but found on a bit of paper later the answer I was looking for and that was to PRESS F11 about 20 times as quickly as possible and this reverts the PC back to factory settings. It cured my problem at the time OK but obviously had to reinstall everything and use my memory stiks . Taught mee to keep up saving my data to the stick more frequent.
