I downloaded this programme to try it out. Somehow or other, lots of files (jpeg, pdf, etc) have become associated with it - which I don't want! Can I just uninstall the software to get back to my original way to handle these various files, or is there another, safer way to "disassociate" them? Many thanks.

Don't worry about it! We can still answer your question here ;-)

To (for example) associate jpeg files with the program of your choice, do this:
Right-click on the icon for any jpeg file.
Select 'Open with'
If you see the name of the program you want listed there, do NOT click on it. Instead, click on 'Choose program'
Put a tick in the box where it says 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
If the program you require is in the list shown, click on it and then on OK. If it's not shown, click 'Browse', navigate to the location of the program, and double-click on it.

Thank you, Buenchico. I've made a start, but ... the software has "hijacked" so many file types that I have no idea how they were all associated, if at all, originally. Also, when I right click on a file and choose "Open with", I should be getting a quite long list of programs from which to choose - before opting for "Browse" - but I'm not. Is there a way to return to the default associations, as if my laptop were brand new? Thanks again.

If you run System Restore (from Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools), to take your computer's registry back to a date before you installed "36-Image Converter", you'll effectively uninstall the program. (If you actually want that program on your PC, you can then reinstall it, taking care not to accept the offer to associate any file types with it,of course!).
