lost pictures
I was loading my pics onto picasa 3 and it started making copy after copy, after copy! I clicked to stop and it said 'closing picasa will cancel unfinished operation' (or words to that effect') I had to close as I couldn't get rid of the message, and now everything seems to have gone, including picasa itself!!!Any ideas PLEASE. rosy

When I switched my pc on again I found that I could get Picasa again, but when I tried to put my pics on from my memory card again it uploaded them but when I clicked on 'import all' a message showed 'A file error occurred while files were imported, cancelling import' and away they went again!!!!Sounds funny but it is driving me crazy so please any suggestions gratefully received. rosy
It sounds like there might be a fault with the card but, to eliminate the possibility of a fault with Picasa, try copying the pictures from your card to your PC without using that program.
If you need instructions:
Right-click on your desktop and select 'New Folder'. Name it as 'Imported Pics' (or similar). Double-click on the folder, to display its (currently non-existent) contents. If necessary, resize the window, so that it only takes up part of the screen.
Then double-click on 'My Computer' and again on the icon for your memory card. (It will probably be 'Drive G', or similar. If there are several possible drives, just try them each in turn, until a window opens displaying the contents of your card. It's likely that you'll only see a folder displayed, if so, double-click on it - and on the next folder if necessary - until you actually get to your photo files). If necessary, resize the new window, so that you now have two windows open, side by side.
In the second window go the the Edit menu, and click on 'Select All'. Now 'drag-and-drop' the files from that window to the empty one.
You've now got the pictures onto your PC. Double-click on one of the files in the 'Imported Pics' window, to see if it will open in your default picture viewing program.

Thank you Chris for your very comprehensive reply. I tried to do as you said but I can't seem to get past Picasa the pics will go on there but now it says 'an error has occurred while attempting to import, either source is unavailable or the destination is full or read only (1) and I can't find pics anywhere else. I don't think it is my memory card as I am now using another one with just a few pics on that I am not too bothered about losing until I can get this sorted. Do you think I should uninstall Picasa and try again. Everything used to go to 'My Pictures' ,and a window would pop up with various options but not now.So what will happen if I do uninstall Picasa please? Hope you can understand my ramblings, thanks again rosy
