I find it quite disturbing and sad that the second most important thing to people in their homes is the computer.  I obviously like the computer and, as you know, spend too much time on it, but I wouldn't be devastated if it went.  My pets, garden, bed, fridge and bath all come before the computer.  The computer ranks above the TV.   And some things have been totally missed off the poll.  How do others feel?

I ony chose loved ones as that is alot more important to me than any of my belongings but if i lived alone it would be bath for definite, i hate to be smelly lol!

I guess PC's really have taken over in the past 10 years and now with the net, everything is so readily available and easy to find. I have a PC at work so dont use my one at home hardly ever only to check my mail when i remember. I would imagine if a mobile was on their that would most defintely take poll position under loved ones. Sofa is a bit sad isn't it lol sorry to anyone who voted for it though.........

In material things I could not live without my washing machine.  For years I did the washing in the bath - we were a bit backwards in those days here - but love my washing machine now and will not be separated ever.

Netty.  I too used to do my washing either in the bath or the kitchen sink.  I didn't have a washing machine for years.  I also have a love affair now with my dishwasher, but I suppose I could do without it!  It would be interesting to see what our choices would be in order of importance.  The survey seems odd.  How can a sofa or games console be so important?
My two most important were on there - loved ones followed by pets.
Probably choose my bed next, or fridge.
Hate warm milk and can always find a laundrette (though not in the village where I live)
I could only choose one (couldn't everyone else?) and chose loved ones.  I don't see how loved ones could even be compared to a computrer or a TV!

How true Natalie.  I chose loved ones as well.  None of the others should show any ratings!

I Wouldn't touch that poll with a barge pole!!Of course loved ones come first!!
I think some people may be misreading the question - it says -  what do you value the most in your home many people may not live with their loved ones or have a pet so would obviously rank material things higher. I dont think that the majority of people would value a computer over their family.

Am I the only person left who doesn't have a computer at home? I hope my boss doesn't work out who I am. To answer the poll, and sticking to material things (not including our nellie and the kids) I would choose my photos as everything else is replaceable.

I don't have a compy at home glossopswift!
I see what you mean Carol, but it still means that somebody favours their games console more than their bed, or a fridge or a bath!

I find it very hard to believe that anybody could value an inanimate object over a loved one.

It does of course predispose that we all have loved ones. In the absence of a loved one, I'm sure that any material possession could become highly valued.

i picked radio because i'm a mischievous little so-and-so and like to cause mayhem

i'm sorry!

I chose Pet before realising that Loved Ones were on the list, doh! but then it would be pets for me :)

I chose 'loved ones' FP.

I could certainly live without a computer - I did before 1985 after all!

1. Loved ones
2. Pets
3. Bath
4. Bed
5. Garden
6. Fridge
7. Computer
8. Sofa
9. TV
10. Games console

Huh, I dont see radio on mine (see 1. Loved ones
2. Pets
3. Bath
4. Bed
5. Garden
6. Fridge
7. Computer
8. Sofa
9. TV
10. Games console

Huh, I dont see 'radio' on mine (see here )
but it would be between TV and Games console. Am I missing any others?
Jeez! Now what happened there?

Speaking about inanimate things - Shower, Bed, Fridge and Washing Machine come first. Next, Television and PC. You need food, sleep, and cleanliness first and foremost. Then you need entertainment and the need to pursue knowledge. That's my reason for choosing this order.

Hi ezapf:

My list would be in the same order as yours, except that I need to change 'bath' into 'shower' (which isn't on the list), change the order of 'Sofa' and 'TV' and haven't got a 'Games Console'.

Aaaaahhhhhhhhhh - I just thought.  My music centre is far more important than the TV!  Got to have my loud rock music.

(Would have been simpler to type another list!!) xx

If it's between the inanimate objects, surely computers get a higher rating because of the files in them.  If it's FULLY BACKED UP, then it should count equally with the fridge in "items that the insurance company will replace".

As for the "loved ones" and "pets"I agree with CarolG - if where you lay your hat is home, then I don't have loved ones OR a pet here at "home".  Mind you, I actually ONLY have a bed and a computer from that list in the room I call home.  Maybe lots of students are warping the poll results!
